That sent me off looking at the Porsche AUC site. Are people really paying £170k for a 992 GTS ?!?! That is just utter madness 20 Turbo S’s to choose from though….which is maybe not a surprise as according to howmanyleft Porsche have managed to import 500 of them. Clearly Turbo S not impacted by the chip shortage….
Yes the GTS prices are madness but they appear to be selling even 2021 cars indie cars at £160k plus.

That 170k GTS has been sat there for a while now. Like you say, utter madness. I ordered a C4 GTS last December, and god knows when that’ll turn up. But I’d never pay anything close to £170k as a stop gap or to jump the queue, it’s a well spec’d car but must be £35k over list.

My only hope is that the GR86 turns up before the end of the summer, because the 992 will probably be next summer.

Do you need to buy from OPC ?

Most of the ones I've looked at have extended Porsche warranty and a priced under what's at OPCs
Buyers will always pay more for OPC cars especially GT Porsches and for obvious reasons.

It’s interesting that in 2017 there were 190 991.2 GT3 registered in the UK. In 2021, only 30 or so less than that for the 992.1 even with all the supply issues.

Romans have just sold the 2017 Crayon 991.2 Cubsport listed end of March at £164950.

May be a case of prioritising limited supply in favour of producing higher margin product. Turbo S is probably a particular money spinner. £30k-odd more expensive than a GT3 (make that £43k for the Turbos S cab) and probably cheaper to make.

I've just collected my 8k mile 991.2 GT3, CS, PCCB, Bose, lift etc. from Porsche Cardiff; all wrapped in a rather fetching shade of yellow smile
Paid a fair whack, but v happy. It goes like stink!
Four new tyres, a new full service and 2-year warranty mean no additional costs for a while.
I missed out on a few by simply not being quick enough. Pretty much everything is being snapped up.
Now to decide what to do with the GT4 order later in the year.

Just received a notification telling me that another car I was watching has also sold.

More miles and £2.5k more than I paid.

Porsche have prioritised the high margin cars…a bit like Apple have, try buying a bottom of the range iPad.

Porsche production last year was actually at a new record…for some reason they throttled UK production at the expense of other markets. Q1 this year 40% more cars have been delivered by OPC’s in the UK. So back above pre Covid levels if that continues.

Optimistic! I don’t think admitting to the car probably being the hardest driven example out there will add any value…

Yes. I understand that the press cars get exceptional treatment but even so...

Think it was 130k last week, I'd never buy a press car but I guess maybe a collector would but then surely the mileage will put a lot of collectors off.

I'd far rather buy a well cared for and not track abused example, I know that is hard with a GT3 but on a press car I'd really be wanting new ceramic disc and pads all round, potentially dampers too because 20k of press miles will be like 40-60k of what the average user would do.

I know cars that are tracked is not necessarily a bad thing if the upkeep is spot on and I am sure that is the case here, but when you can get into a 991.2 GT3 for 15-20k more you'd really not consider this.

991.1 GT3 should be 95-115k, based on mileage and spec. Maybe 120k if it had every option but sub 10k miles.

Dads just bought a 991.2 PDK GT3 10K miles, Clubsport, 918 buckets, ceramics, racing yellow, front axle lift, basically the spec you’d want (after some advice from me wink), at the time of looking it was the only one in that spec. £145k. I think a fair price for how the market is, and interesting the other cars were really lacking the options you’d want.

I’ll buy it off him in a year or twos time nerd

I think the market is shifting on regular stuff ,stock isn’t moving and dealers are not paying what they were for cars .Whether the gt3 remains immune from that we will see .

The Mid Sussex OPC car?
Could be wrong as their 10k mile car in that spec was up for 152500

I nearly bought it but went for one from Cardiff with fewer miles.
Very similar spec. It's bloody brilliant.

Funny you should say that, this one was originally delivered to Cardiff. Looks like it’s had a very easy early life, about half of its miles done over the last year. New cup 2s all round too.

My only concern was that the PCCBs were 30% worn, but I expect by the time I get my hands on it they’ll be 31% worn and I’ll stick a set of ST discs on it.

I missed a few due to them selling hours after being listed.
If you find the right car grab it before someone else does.
