Having had a few Boxsters and having looked again at Astons I finally took the plunge last week and put a deposit on a GTS Cab due to arrive in q2 next year. My first 911 and far more than I have spent before but I'm very excited by the prospect of it.

I had been looking at an S Cab but was persuaded that the GTS was the way to go.

In terms of spec my first issue is that after a number of years of black wheels I am well and truly sick of them and really do not want them on this car. I know that this loses the centre locks but it is a big issues for me. I have decided to go for a "clean" look and I suspect an unusual look for a GTS but the GTS interior etc do nothing for me.

Thoughts, comments and advice all very welcome, especially as a 911 newcomer.
As a GTS owner I would never ever buy that car unless it was an S then I might consider it. I would advise to either buy an S or get a GTS in resale spec you can always get the centre locks painted in silver or some such. In short get an S

Thanks for all the comments. I was originally going to get an S in that sort of spec with the chrono, exhaust etc and the extra for the GTS seems to make sense in terms of the brakes, suspension ,power and looks even though I am the first to accept that it’s not a usual GTS spec by any means. In fact probably 1 of 1

Having had a couple of GTS Boxsters I’m a bit bored with the alcantara etc interior and want something different. I fully accept resale may not be as easy as a usual spec. I suppose part of the reason for asking is my concern over that issue but part of me says it’s for me and probably a less enthusiast buyer won’t care about the centre locks and alcantara, but perhaps I’m just wrong about that.

I don’t want to waste cash on it by devaluing it but as it’s the nicest car I’ve ordered part of me says have it now I want it.

Thanks again for the comments.

I've got one on order, I spend hours on the config but still I can't decide between the spyder's or centre locks.

I just really like the spyder wheel design

Mine isn't due to Mar/Apr so I have a while to finalise the spec
centre locks
you are missing Buckets, Aerokit and manual

lovely but, as you are opting for the extended Carbon interior pack, and, as you are getting the Sports Seats Plus, opt for the 'Sports Seat Plus backrests in leather with decorative inlay in matt carbon' to bring it all together cohesively. Thank me later.

I'm 40 and it's only the 2nd new car I've ever spec'd, the other being a company A6. As much as I love some of the options I'm reaching a bit for this car so I'm defo spec'ing some stuff based on re-sale value.

Each to thier own, and take my comments as nothing more than my own opinion, however I don't see the point of a GTS if it doesn't have centre locks or the alcantara/racetec interior.
I agree with you on Centre locks and Alcantara with GTS stitch etc on GTSs. But the problem i have with race tex trim based on my 992GT3, is that this is not going to wear well on a daily driver with multiple users. So like with my other 2 991.2 Targas i went with the leather option, with Centre locks . No problem when selling with the leather seats option.

Based on my experience its Ok up to around 80/5. Then it gets a bit loud its not as smooth as say what the Cab version is.

Probably going for a 2 GTS Cab, Manual, Black and just a few options not sure about:

1. Front Axel Lift - On the GT3 I used it all the time, is it a lot lower than the GTS?

2. 18 Way Seats - Never changed them once set into position but are the 4 ways less comfortable?

3. PDCC with rear axel steering - not sure what I think about it truthfully, possibly makes the car too sorted and less fun

A lot of people spec 14 or 18 way seats on a 911 just to get lumber (I have). Personally I did not like the initial turn in for a 4S with real axle steering but maybe you get used to it?

The buffeting on the 991 Targa was verging on unbearable. I suspect the 992 Targa isn't much better. The Cabriolet is much much better in this respect and what i'd pick every time. The top can be operated on the move unlike the Targa and there is a 2WD option. The 992GTS Targa PDK is a very heavy car at nearly 1700Kg without driver.
The 992GTS Cabriolet 2WD Manual would be a great choice IMO and over 100Kg lighter to boot.

1.
Whilst lift is a must on the GT3, I never had it on any of 992 Coupes or Cabs and never felt the need to use it once, both had the lower sports PASM option.
2.
I am am big fan of 18 ways, will always spec them due to the added comfort options for a daily car, in my opinion.
3
Unless you are going to track it i would not bother with PDCC even more so on the 2WD versions. RWS i would 100% spec though makes the car so much more agile on twisty roads and fun the drive.

One point on the roof noise on the Targas, I did just under 40k miles in both my 991.2 Targa 4 GTS, both used for daily use and drives down to Spain, below 85 the noise is fine, its not as quiet as what the Cabs are but its perfectly acceptable. If it was that bad people would no buy it, and the Targa was the best selling of all the 991.2 GTS variants. But you have to engage the wind deflector on the top of the roof rail, you have to do this by hand, i did not know this was there for the first few k miles on my first one.

Do the buckets tip forward to allow access to the rear seats?

Not those buckets, electric height adjustment and manual forward rear adjustment. Found them a pain in a GT3 with a cage, maybe there's more room without.
