Great write up and summary, and congratulations on your order. smile

I won't be regularly tracking mine, but will do a couple here in the UK along with the yearly trip to Nurburgring for the road trip and a few laps while I'm there. So on my C2 GTS PDK, I've also specced Rear Axle Steering and added Front Axle Lift as I too have a funny drive to negotiate before I get into the garage. Also, as I have added the Aerokit, I believe it gives you a bigger and lower Front Splitter and therefore FAL will help keep that scratch free. I haven't specced Lightweight Package for the same reasons you mention.

I'm a bit confused too around the seats now following that post yesterday. My understanding was that the Sports Plus seats were exactly the same to look regardless of 4-Way or 18-Way, and it was just that the 18-Ways have a lot more adjustment and obviously add some more weight given the extra mechanics inside them. Rennlist peeps seem to suggest they are the same visually also. Nevertheless, the car I drove at PEC had the 4-Ways and I found them perfect, much more comfortable and supportive than I'm used to coming from an M4 Comp and so I'll stick with the 4-Ways.
Visually near identical

I am trying to find pictures of my car on My Porsche but unlike all the pictures I’ve seen on this group, what is available is very limited indeed. There is literally one picture of the front of the car with the bonnet open and no wheels. Does anyone have any tips where the ‘fuller’ pictures can be found.

Incidentally, the car has arrived in the U.K. and I am told should be available for delivery at my OPC in 2 weeks.
I have just noticed that if you log in via the browser there is one photo. If you install the my Porsche app there is 4 in total!

So i test drove the new GTS at my OPC yesterday and ended up putting a deposit down. A few observations:

1. It was Shark Blue, amazingly zingy colour which i really liked. (currently have crayon)
2. It had buckets and the lightweight pack. Really not for me, the buckets were not as uncomfortable as i thought and they really did cocoon you in, but getting in and out of them was an arse and i felt there is a risk of soiling one's trousers with the effort involved.
3. The lightweight pack - couldn't really tell much apart from lack of rear seats. I need the seats for my small humans.
4. The engine sound was much better than i was expecting. Sounded more throaty and gutteral than my 991.2 and still get the whizz poppers and bangs with Sport mode. I don't know whether that's because it had the lightweight pack and less sound deadening.?
5. It had RWS, i couldn't tell on such a short drive. Unless on a track or at speed, I'm not sure i am a good enough driver to tell apart from the better turning circle. I will spec it though until i go to PEC and see properly.
6. It had adaptive cruise which like in my Tesla, i found slightly off putting as it keeps trying to break if it thinks you haven't seen something (like a parked car)
7. The 992 felt so much more refined than my 991.2. It was very smooth on normal mode and a much more compliant ride. I was very impressed with the ride which was highlighted when i got back in mine.
8. The cabin is a nicer place to be and the PCM is much nicer to use.
9. The front lift was great. You can push a button and the sat nav remembers where you are and activates the lift next time you come to that speed bump etc. I will be speccing it as i have a trickly drive to garage transition.
10. I am looking into recreating the GTS pack but with blue stitching and blue belts. Only issue is that the belts are shark blue but the only blue stitching is Speed Blue which is a slight concern.
11. Got the impression that the 992.2 GTS is a long long way off.
12. speccing the leather on the steering wheel column seems a good plan, it's a big bit of plastic and you also get your stitching on it.
13, After one of the recent posts i am now confused about seats. I have specced the 4-way sports seats plus because i currently have the 18-way and find there is too much to adjust and i'm always bodging around with it.
14. The roof lining in Alcantara is no longer standard as on 991.2. You have to spec it.

Anyway, happy to wait 18 months so lots of time to change things around.
Phil

Nice Write Up,
I would not have a car without 18 ways as I do long trips and like extra support. I agree there is a lot to adjust but once set and put in the memory it takes just a few secs and one button to set to your preferred settings. I admit have not tried other seats in the 992 range, but first point I did notice on my 992C2S Coupe back in 19 was how much lower the 18 way seat was than what was in my 991.2 GTS.

I didn't end up going for 18 ways, despite much deliberation and it still being a niggle in my head.

My 991.2 had the 4 ways, and the new one will have the same after driving cars with both I just didn't see the benefit aside from the memory function, but that's not really relevant to me. The 18 ways are heavier (in an already heavy targa) and actually sit slightly higher than the 4 ways (I assume due to the amount of electrical gubbins in them). Both seats are extremely comfortable to me so I'd be happy with either, and when your spending 140k on a car its not really a financial concern as seats are obviously a key factor in a car. You just get what works best for you.

Always put 18 ways on my cars ,then I realized I wasn't actually using about 14 of the 'ways' so now usually spec the 4 ways.Getting in and out is much more convenient/faster as well.As usual though everyone is different shape /size and preferences so what suits one is not always the best option for someone else.
In fact I would say I used to get more problems with my back when I had 18 ways ,but there may be other factors to do with that.

The only thing i miss about the 18 ways, the leg extension.. being tall it support the thighs better.

I had the chance of sitting in both the a 18 way and 4 way (cars were sat next to each other in showroom) 4 ways sat much lower, 18 ways i always feel like im sitting on, rather then in

Ah great, all very exciting. Same boat, might do the odd Porsche club track day if i can get a place and I've recently done the CAT driver training at Millbrook but everything else will be on roads. Still fancy some side motorsport type decals but the OPC actually recommend i get those done by a 3rd party. It definitely won't be to some people's taste but they can be removed. I didn't see the aerokit option, i presumed it was still not available. It will look top!

very useful thanks. This whole seats thing is really just down to what suits the individual. I'm a mere pint-sized 5ft 6 so I don't have any height related issues except not getting served at the bar!
I love the memory button on my 18-ways but it is quite slow and the manual lever will probably get me there quickly especially when getting out when i put the seat right back to avoid scuffing that bit that always get scuffed ! If i had an unlimited budget, i would probably just spec them though

992 is a significant step up on the 991.2 in respect of the interior. The 991.2 was so 'old school' its ridiculous, so the 992 has brought it relatively up to date.

Lightweight pack & RWS for me are for those who can't get a GT3 allocation but want to track the car. I don't see the point if this isn't your intention, and the monies can be far better used making the interior a nicer place to be for more normal driving (or even torward the ceramic brakes which are epic but come with inherent issues if you intent to track the car regularly).

Adaptive cruise and the like, not for me. I hate things like this (also lane assist) as have this in my Etron and are so annoying. The way the GTS stops you'd have to be completely ignoring what was ahead to plough into the back of someone. My concern would more be if I anchored on what would happen behind me as the brakes are truelly epic (and I only have the non ceramic ones).

Enjoy when it turns up. Hopefully timescales will come forward a few months for you.
Yes, nail on the head,992 was a massive step up, more than i expected actually.

Have my targa now. Epic.

I don't know why people go on about wind noise, or buffeting, as I've been up to various speeds (obviously nothing over the legal limit) and no issues whatsoever.

I wonder if a few people may get nervous with recession and interest rates and jump out the queue. Not gonna solve the other issues but could mean you get closer to the 12 month wait

Its because some that are happy to give their opinions don’t know that you have to press the deflector to make it pop up and do its job correctly.

When the deflector is down the buffeting is bad, when it’s correctly deployed there is little to no buffeting even at 70 mph.

I’ve only had the targa a couple of days now, but even at this early stage I’d argue it the perfect Porsche for someone not wanting to track their car, and therefore it’s purpose of generally day to day driving.

It’s an absolutely fantastic car. It’s replacement is likely 18 months away (same) so quite a while to decide the spec on that one.

Looks great! Did you order another upon collection? How did they manage the PX value on your current one given the current market? I’m considering the same.

Is your car Aventurine Green? I got the pre-build notification the other day for my car and I have spec’d it in Aventurine Green without seeing a real life car in that colour.
