Thought you all might like to see my 992 GTS Manual Cabrio as it is now. Im about 2.5 months into ownership, and it's just incredible. Great daily driver (I work at home, don't commute!) and live in the hertfordshire countryside, so a good location to use it smile

I really dislike black wheels, its a personal thing, it's a bit 'Essex' for me, also it means the definition of the wheels is lost, which is a bad thing when you have RS Spyders, as they are such a great design. So after two very minor curbs to the fronts, I took the chance to change them to GT3 silver effect (done by an exceptional company locally, top quality job) and while there to match I also had them change the badging to silver to match, and the decals on the side as well. Decals had to be traced by their friendly wrapping company and reproduced as you apparently can't get them from porsche, or the badges, but they managed to track them down through their contacts.

For me, the car now looks just incredible. Will probably be at the TIPEC meet at the Ace Cafe on Monday 27th, say hello if you see me!

How did you run it in? What type of mpg you getting? How is it on the country roads. You finding yourself at silly speeds

Didn't really run it in, am warming it up properly before pushing harder. I came from a 997.1 so well aware of how important not going over 3000 rpm before its warming is.

Country roads, its fine, goes well, on bad surfaces its still ok, those helper springs are very very good. It's a harder ride, but its sitll controlled and go it goes round corners well. I do have rear wheel steering. It's very very easy to get to silly speed and very very hard to upset it beyond it's limits.....

Amazing thing, love it, done 3000 miles....

Sorry, average mpg is about 22mpg, it gets driven properly, on a long motorway run it can go over 30 easily.

First weekend I had it we went away from Friday through Sunday, mixture of driving, its a capable weekend away car, fast when you want it to be, but also cruises up a motorway nicely.

nice.

Yeah when I test drove it I got some time with it and was pleasantly surprised at the motorway cruise. Sadly the roads which should be fun were not great condition and it was a bit damp so it was a bit bouncy and skittish but a lovely experience.

Glad you are enjoying it and glad to hear it's being driven properly and getting good miles on it. Exactly how a 911 should be.

at PEC Silverstone I took it out on the local roads for 20 minutes or so, and it showed it is absolutely fine on normal UK roads withe the GTS suspension. Sort of defeats the point of a GTS if you dont keep the suspension and chassis!

Hi ,

I've had a deposit down on a 992 GTS for over 3 years, finally received an allocation on 29th November 2021, car went into production on 9th May 2022.

I chased up my dealership over the weekend to see how things were progressing, and car is still in production, that's six weeks and still no car. Had a phone call yesterday from my dealer stating that they've been in contact with Porsche Germany only to be told it's still in production, no further information is available. Is anyone else having this problem.

Thanks

Yes. There's another production delay, apparently. My Touring is in the same boat, was due at the dealer next Thursday, got a heads-up on Friday. No reforecast date as yet. Galling to say the least. Your OPC is being slightly disingenuous in that, as far as I know, production in some cases is "severely delayed" to quote; PCGB has emailed OPCs. So, "in production" doesn't necessarily mean 'being produced'. I feel your pain.

If your car went into production on 9th May, then I believe roughly 6 weeks later is when it should be arriving with your dealer, so around about nw for you.

This has got me worried, as my car is currently in production as well. I did speak with my dealer on Friday and he said everything was on schedule for delivery to them by end of July.

If this thread is anything to go by, it seems most people have got their cars on time according to dealers schedules once cars go into production, some have even got it slightly earlier.

Are you tracking your car on 'My Porsche' app? What stage are you currently showing at?

Edit: Have you added any 'Exclusive Manufacture' options or gone for a PTS colour? Because this adds extra time to the production process from what I understand.

Mine has a estimated to complete production on 27th June, then the about three week from there to dealer. They must be close on the line?

Yes, mine has a build completion date of 1st July, so our cars may be ship buddies! lol.

Sounds like more delays are expected. Can't say I'm surprised.

There seem to be fewer GTS on the market now and prices seem to have softened a bit. I suppose with even more restricted supply it'll drive prices up again or at least stabilise them given everything else that's happening. Perhaps the speculators have moved on.

I've never really understood the process for selling these low or delivery mileage cars. Do they not take delivery and the dealer just puts them up for sale on registration or do they take them to the next dealer down the line and get paid? Is it all agreed at order or allocation? There must be some system they use given the amount of times it happens with the GT models etc.

@RevHappy, have you spoken with your dealer recently, everything on track for your car to land on schedule?

Been showing stage 2 since December last year. Dealer showed me his screenshot from Porsche GB of my car in process of being built with completion date only to be followed up a week or so later with delayed and extended expected completion date., this has happened about 4 times since car went into production. Expected completion date now 8th July.

I'm wondering if there is something on your spec where they're currently having supply issues with, especially if it has happened 4 times with your car...

Also wondering why yours hasn't moved to Stage 3 if it's in Production. Then again, I believe My Porsche updates are a bit random and not truly reflective of the current status.

I’ve just texted him to double check, the date was reconfirmed only a couple of weeks ago while having recall check done on my current 992 S. So I was in the dealer when it was checked.

Let us know what he says buddy, I've tried to get hold of my dealer today and left a message, but nothing back as yet.

The system still has the same date but he did let slip that some cars are getting delayed on the last stage waiting for parts. Sounds like a bit of a lucky dip….
