Do all versions of the sunshade come with the big disclaimer sticker? Folks on another forum (I think US) are having a torrid time removing it.
Yes. Certainly in the UK.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether to get privacy glass for the 992 GTS Targa rear window ? My dealer says it is not necessary and that he doesn’t like it on the Targa.
I’ve specified it on my coupe. But I think on a targa my preference would be not to have it. It’s more of a classic car to spec I think?

Well I picked my car up just over a week ago. What a car. Anyone who has one on order is very lucky.

I went manual and the gearbox is lovely. It’s got a little ‘character’ between 5th and 7th, but for more aggressive driving, it’s like a 5 speed gearbox and is great to operate. 7th is 100% a motorway cruising gear.

Now I just need to wind forward to 1800 miles so it’s fully run in.

wow, with aerokit! now you're talking. looks amazing. Congratulations!
looks white in one pic, and crayon in the other pic.
Indeed - in the flesh it is consistently grey! In photos it changes all the time.

Congrats Oli, looks stunning. 1800 miles run in, is that something you're doing for your own satisfaction, or has your dealer told you to do that? Reason I ask is, I thought Porsche didn't specify running in periods on their cars aside from the GT cars?

All my previous BMW ///M cars had running in periods specified by the manufacturer and so in my head I have said to myself I'll be running in my 992 GTS for at least the first 1000 miles before I open it up fully once it arrives.
The running in process is covered in the manual.

1800 miles (well, 3000km), not over 4000 rpm. I’ve just been taking it fairly easy. I’ve been a little over 4k, but not up to 5k. Always ensured everything is warm, and not really done any full throttle. I’ve also tried not to labour the engine too much. I’ve also been varying the throttle as much as I can and not just sitting on a motorway.

All very boring! But hopefully it will result in a good, powerful reliable engine.

With running in cars, most advise not to keep constant revs but to use the rev range, maybe not up to the limiter.

Not sure what Porsche advise.
This is pretty much it!

Vary the rev range, try and not apply full throttle and keep engine rpm limited. But do that for 3000km!

That looks ace, love the aerokit. I remember the 7 speed manual gearbox in the 991.2 Carrera T took some getting used to, but that’s a car I really liked too.
Thanks! I’m mega pleased I was able to get the aerokit. I actually delayed the production date by a good few months to get it. It looks way better in the flesh compared to photos.

I think the gearbox has changed quite a bit in terms of ‘feel’ compared to the 991.2. But I believe underneath it’s the same 7 speed ZF auto unit.

When the 7-spd Manual was first introduced (2012) on the 991.1, it got mixed reviews and raised quite a few questions, and I even asked myself, on here.
As a result, few people optioned it - PDK being the popular choice.

However, by the 991.2 (2017) it was much improved and I was very impressed - up there with any good 911 manual box. But, many people didn’t realise.
It was only with the launch of the 991 ‘T’ that it started to get the recognition and credit it deserved.

My only regret, with the 992, is that you can’t spec a base model with Manual. That, plus a few modest options, listing at £90k(ish), would be my perfect 911.
Interesting. Thank you for sharing.

All I can comment on is the 992 GTS box and it’s great!

This is my thought process too. Thinking Shark Blue exterior colour and my irrational desire for Shark Blue seat belts has sent me down a worm hole of trying to recreate the GTS pack but with blue belt and stitching. Sorry for bumping the post, I'm just on page 32 of this 65 page thread.....trying to work my way through.
Shark blue exterior with blue interior stitching and belts would be lovely. You’ll need the extended leather/racetex interior thought, right?

Are there rules about naming the dealership you have used? Reading Whatme’s post is such a far cry from my experience. I placed a deposit August BH and collected my car today. My sales guy has been first class throughout with proactive, accurate comms and very responsive to anything I have asked.
Me too!

Joey at Porsche Norwich is your guy…

I had just presumed all Porsche dealerships abs salespeople would be ace. It seems I got lucky.

Nice. Classy colour that. If my Mrs had her way that’s the colour mine would have been.

It’s actually worrying and not going to lie, sometimes I get similar feelings. Never had this feeling before when buying a car. It feels like they’re in more control rather than you as the customer.
You are aware just how screwed the industry is at the moment aren’t you?! Lead times for everything are horrendous. Global financial markets are breaking down. WW3 is breaking out. There’s been a global pandemic. I could go on.

I just read a comment a few pages ago where you apologised for whinging…

Trust me when I say Porsche would love to give you the best car buying experience they can. But right now they can’t. I’m pretty certain they will be doing a much better job than most.

A friend of mine ordered an RS3 at the same time I ordered my GTS. I’ve had my car over a month, his is not due to be made until later on this year.

Please, stop moaning and have some patience. The wait will be worth it.

it does look better, but its a £150 for something you will never ever see! for others yes, but for the owner, never.
I personally didn’t like the look of it and didn’t tick it. It makes the light too fussy imo.

I did a sticker plate on mine.

I actually ordered three of them of varying size, and went for the full size lettering, but slightly narrower than standard. It suits the car much better than the plate holder in my opinion and I think should be pretty legal...

Wondering if anyone has bought a manual box GTS? What are your experiences having not gone the usual PDK route, any regrets etc?

Thinking of a Manual box Cab myself
Yep, I ordered mine with a manual gearbox and LOVE it. I had a 991.2 PDK prior, which was great, but the manual feels way more engaging and rewarding. I can't heel and toe, so for me the auto rev matching is great fun - it almost makes the box imo.
