Just had mine done at OPC Colchester. Just under £1900 including the PCGB discount.
Interesting, mine wouldn't give the club discount.
I’m guessing the profit margins are quite high as Colchester didn’t bat an eyelid when I asked.

For people saying one days labour mine was quoted as two days and they ended up having it for 3 due to an issue obtaining the correct oil filter (or so they said)
They definitely enjoy high margins! Did you have a courtesy car? I don't suppose for one minute that's a factor but it would be worth 10% to me due to my distance from the dealer

Courtesy cars and/or the fact that my OPC will collect/deliver the car despite me being an hour away makes a difference to me, Servicing isn’t cheap at OPC’s but then you go to some specialists and it is not cheap at some of them. I’ve got more leverage (as someone who has bought cars) and have better experience of customer service at my OPC than I do at one highly regarded specialist who people on here generally have very high opinions of.

Unfortunately I had a 21 day ban in March this year due to a speeding offence so they were unable to offer me one.

That's a crazy amount of money for a 4 year service!

Now Porsche'less these service costs are one of the things that I won't miss! Equivalent service from BMW or Mercedes would be in region of £1,000 absolute maximum.
I'm not a big Porsche fan but Mercedes have hiked up servicing costs recently too and was quoted £800 for a 6 year service on a V8 (no plugs) and don't forget a Mercedes needs servicing every year. Apart from the gold plated plugs there's the golden engine oil which Porsche (and others) will be charging £180 for when you can buy it on line for £70....pure profiteering when they're getting it out of a 40 gallon drum.

Are there any warranty implications if serviced at an indy? Can you keep the Porsche warranty? Would Porsche offer less px value if the car did not have opc service history.

For the extended warranty I believe you have to use OPC servicing.

You wouldn't have the up to date cost of the extended warranty at all, mine runs out next May.Do they have different excess to bring the cost down? Cheers.

Correct - Indy service cost virtually 1/2 that of OPC, but OPC have you by the balls if you want to keep your extended warranty- absolute scam frown

I need to re-read my warranty but pretty sure this is not the case. You just have to use genuine parts and service in the same manor. I just renewed my warranty and The car he only had 2 independent services in the book by the previous owner (next due). There was no mention on renewing and also when I got the car I checked into this.

Looks like you don't need the 111 point check if your car already has a factory warranty or an existing extended warranty.

No idea on costs as I don't use extended warranties.

It's definitely with checking the small print re. servicing as it used to be the case that renewal could not happen unless the last service was an OPC service and all the correct maintenance items had been done.

As for whether it's a scam/rip-off or not it's basically an insurance product so it's their game and therefore their rules. Simple as that.

Try this.
So assuming warranty is maintained when going to an Indy like 9E or RPM, does anyone think the Indy stamp would put off a future buyer (albeit not anytime soon)?
If I skip the AC I assume that’s not covered by the extended warranty?

Yes that changed about a year ago, OPC wasn’t sure if it was because of Covid but appears not.

This is how I see it:

Jan 2021 you buy a 3 year old GT3 that's seen little use from a franchised dealer, comes with a 2 year warranty.
Jan 2022 it needs a big service for £2200.
Jan 2023 you put a 3 year warranty on the car for £3200
Jan 2024 it needs a small service for £1200
Jan 2026 you sell or start the process over again.

So that's 5 years of motoring in arguably one of the best cars on the planet for just under £7k. Trips to Spa and Zandervort, early morning blasts in the summer, days out to Silverstone and Anglesey, and just the shear privilege of owning a GT3

Then when your 5 years older, you've scratched that itch, your investment may even have risen in value, or maybe you loose a few quid,

Come on, enjoy while we're still young enough to do so..........and we can still buy 99 Ron

Good post and some great perspective. I had a go in a McLaren 620R this summer st Silverstone, absolutely fabulous car. I then looked into maintenance and warranty costs and decided running a GT3 is decent value. What I really don’t understand is why a GT3 is the same warranty cost as say a Carrera S or a Macan !

You guys need to upgrade to a Ferrari. My 812 had a service two weeks ago and it didn't cost a dime. While we were waiting both myself and my son were given a 45min test drive in a Portofino M each !. We were also fed all day on bacon/sausage baps in the morning and unlimited delicious Italian toasties the rest of the day.yes

In complete contrast my RS is now due its first service and I'm absolutely dreading what they'll charge for it. If we're lucky we'll get a cup of dodgy coffee each coffeeyuckvomit

Ferrari spoil you for life and Porsche rip you off for life. It balances out nicely in the end.biggrin

Taffy - you’ve got to be kidding - who do think is paying for those tasty treats and the service - there’s a reason an 812 costs what it does - Ferrari depreciation is eye watering - a new 812 will drop you £k100 in a matter of months and a couple of 1,000 miles - a used one will be far less of an issue but I bet you any Ferrari dealer will bid you at least £k35 less than they go onto sell it for - remember bacon baps aren’t for free smile
