My quote for a service next month is £2400. its just silly, its the last time I will use an OPC (only this time as I still have 2 years warranty left) At my 6 yrs service i will go indy.

What do they actually for that, it seems a lot?

This was a first quote from Silverstone, they’ve been told to FO. Found another dealer, but the works are nothing special. It’s just profiteering…

My car was in for two days ,although they had to take the bumper off to clear the clogged headlamp washers but that was only an hour or two at most .

Only if they do each part of the job sequentially, surely? I’m sure they couldn’t possibly get on and do the air filters whilst the oil is draining...

So basically oil, brake fluid, a belt and plugs (the filters presumably take about 30seconds to clip in just like any car?)
Unless access for the belt or plugs is very awkward they’re just taking the mick aren’t they?

What’s a window cleaner do you think?

It is a little tube of windscreen wash concentrate. Porsche labelled of course!

I wonder why they don’t label the oil as ‘Porsche engine lubricant’ rofl

I'm still undecided - giving up the warranty has the potential for costs that far exceed OPC servicing/warranty (~£2,500 per year) - for example, how much is a replacement PADM engine mount?

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm also still not clear on mods and the warranty situation - many Youtubers have put JCRs on 718 GT4s - what happens if, for example, a PADM throws an error - "not covered sir"?

Just one point on that other thread regarding water ingress to Porsche lights I believe this is broadly caused by jetwashing so my cars are always cleaned the traditional way and never jetwashed even at OPCs and never had a problem as a result.

Crazy prices, it’s not like they’re tuning carbs and setting valve clearances. Still, in the context of a car that’s going to maintain a value above list for several years, it’s cheap motoring.

Maybe as a courtesy, ask them to swap out the manifold bolts and basically any nut/bolt around the exhaust system as they’ll be half rusted away already.

PADM replacement on a Cayman is around £1300 per side, I expect it's similar for a GT3.

The factory warranty in the first 3 years should cover a car with a replacement silencer as it would be hard to prove that this caused the PADM failure. For the extended warranty, it will depend on the exact wording of the policy but the same may apply but then again it may not. You'd only really know if you have to claim.

You can't have it both ways - want the extended warranty? Keep your car standard.
