996 Targa Specialist?
Discussion
After a lot of thought and man-maths I’ve decided to take the plunge and get my Targa roof looked at; it moves, but its very slow (slower than it should be) and sticks open, especially in the wet.
My local specialist told me he won’t touch it with a barge pole (he was actually much ruder 😥); is there anyone out there who is considered a specialist at this?
I appreciate it’s a devil of a job and can go pear shaped so I really want it with someone who knows what they’re doing on this specifically.
Any suggestions welcome.
Cheers

There is a very knowledgeable PH'er I recall with these.
Can't recall his username.
Called Mark.
I think he also worked for Precision Porsche. Try them ?
At Precision Porsche it’s a guy called Iain (aka Demort on 911uk) - he did a friends 996 Targa a few years ago (& we travelled down from the Midlands for this). I think Precision/Iain have probably worked on more Targas than most OPCs and Pork specialists & know the process very well. Our local ex OPC techie didn’t want to touch the Targa roof & courtesy of the 911uk forum found Iain/Precision.Can't recall his username.

I had a 996 Targa and roof got stuck, took to an Porsche dealer and they made a big mess of the roof. So much so that I had to sell the car. So be very careful who you ask. I really hope you havent got my old car (Silver !)
My OPC was quite transparent actually; if ‘they’ did it they’d send it somewhere else as it was not the sort of thing they want / are able to do, so I’d pay their rates for an independent job.Edited by Docmem on Saturday 25th September 14:42
It’s only your car if it was so bad someone resprayed it blue as well!
