Same here. I bought my .1 GT3 7 years ago when my ideal car was an RS, but simply couldn’t find one.
Clubsport and in RS Orange means that a .2 would have to be equally special colour and options wise to justify the delta.
Orange 997.1 GT3?

Pics please thumbup
Nice!

Is it the one shown here on Cameron Sports Cars website front page? Can’t be that many orange 997.1!

Something else occurs to me too about 997.1 GT3's. They've been a bit 'stuck' price wise for some time.

The previous generation, the 996 (both Gen 1 and 2) does not really command the kudos and value they deserve. The value of the cars, considering their qualities and also the fact they were the OG GT3 seems, to my mind, slightly soft, when compared, for example to BMW E30 M3's. This also undermines the 997 values.

Similarly, the woes of the 991 engines, combined with their being 'better but less involving' (IYSWIM) than prior cars affects their values. So there's a compression effect too.

However, you're now seeing good 996 Clubsports pushing up in price and I think the notional ceiling of 991 GT3 values is in the process of being tested. The notion that an older car cannot be valued higher is easily disproved in numerous prior examples.

Yes. Since I bought mine about 3 years ago.

Thinking of selling, so that should see values rocket thereafter...

This will be an interesting one to follow:

Mileage is at a nice place where you can use without wincing. Considering the prices higher mile GTS’s go for I’ll be very curious where this ends up, could be a hell of a bargain for a usable toy.

What do we reckon it's worth? Would love a useable 997.1 to put rear seats into and use with the wife and son but the cage is in the way on that one sadly!

Fixed buckets as well, so you'd need a Comfort spec car to access and use the rear.

Am I imagining things, or was the starting bid £59k when I checked last night? (now £69k)

Was £59k when I looked this morning. Now seems to be BIN for £69k so no point putting a bid in...! Doesn't strike me as bad value at £69k although it has a large gap in the service history looking at it.

The vendor's description of the brakes is somewhat "questionable".

Hadn't spotted that - not seen grooved ceramics before...

They're Alcon discs I believe, and looking at the pictures more closely I'd say they've been used as intended whistle, but could probably now do with replacing.

If you were that inclined I’d happily swap out my comfort seats / bench and take the cage and seats off your hands

Suspect I’m not the only one either laugh

I guess you mean the feature where a bunch of them give their Top 10?

It's a good read (not just for GT3 content).

A month or so back, my go-to in-car listening was Sam Moore's Car Chat podcast. Really enjoyed a lot of them, as he's got decent guests and has a nice way with them, where he manages to get some good personalities across without dominating the thing himself.

Anyway, he always finished with the same bunch of questions, two of which are, money-no-object 5-car garage, and one car plus a £500 banger on the side.

The 997 GT3 in general, and conspicuously the 997.2 GT3 RS specifically make a frequent appearance. They are, it seems, to people who know and love cars, very much at the forefront of consciousness.

Oh I’m all too aware as to just exactly what they are, it’s more the vendor’s choice of words to describe them that concerns me ...

It's more this statement I find a little strange "The drive is amazing and with comfort mode is as comfortable as my Macan.", maybe that's just a bit of artistic license perhaps. I would never describe a GT3 as having suspension as comfortable as a Macan, unless I'd got into my Macan and driven it down the road by mistake and thought "oh FFS, why do I KEEP DOING THAT, I really need to get into the GT3 next time..."

Yes that’s the one, it appeared in most of the lists in a number of different models from 997.1 GT3 to the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0, if it had been a singular model it would have come higher than 3rd.

I took a mate out in my car last year. The very first thing he remarked on was how well it rode. At the time this was a stock, standard 997.1 GT3 on standard (i.e. mostly dire) British roads. We hit a mix of just about everything, A, B and motorway roads.

His comment is not without merit, as his day job was with JLR, in development. He'd had access, at various points, to everything they've produced for the last 25 years.
