Definitely a bit late to seek opinion seeing as it's paid for and being collected next week, but I was reasonably happy with the price. There was still a dearth of choice of Gen 1 GT3s around for sale, but I wanted a non-CS model and access to the rear so this was perfect for me, as was the mileage given I want to use it fairly regularly in the summer.

It has ppf on it which looks a little old, I might need to get that off but will live with it for a while.

I'm planning to be at the PH Sunday Service on 12th March which should be my first major trip out in her. Hope to see a few others there to obsess over prices wink
I nearly bought this off of the previous to last owner before JZM sold it the first time. He sent it to JZM on SOR. Guy was a complete dipstick but the car was very tidy, good buy. Shame the previous owner didn’t keep it long but good to see it went back to JZM again.

If you wanted the PPF off I’d have made it a condition of the sale-it isn’t unusual to have some stone chips and the like touched up/blown in before it’s applied and when it’s time to replace it some years later it pulls off all that new paint.

For the next 12 months or so it will do a job so I saw it as a nice to have, and there were plenty of other things that were done to get this sold that were more important, including a major service.

There are so few .1 GT3s available, I feel happy with what I paid for this one, although perhaps white is the most common and least desirable colour? The Cobalt one in Scotland has been up for sale for a year and hasn't moved on price. Cridfords have a silver one now which looks nice and is better value ('no test drives' made me laugh though), and of course the famous one at VVS which didn't sell on CC a few weeks ago. I think only ever 3 or 4 for sale at any one time.

In the grand scheme of things, especially if you have bought the car as a keeper, PPF and paint is not an issue.

Get it done right, by someone/where you trust and it's not going to be difficult.

I found a few opinions on this when I was looking and came to these conclusions:
1. White is the cup car colour which at the time was most desirable for GT3's.
2. Its easier to care for than any other colour
3. Guards red also looks rubbish against the rear lights
4. Black doesn't show off the lines of the car like you'd expect a black car too.
5. Silver is boring.
6. And most importantly, buy the car on condition - not colour. Its hard enough finding a GT3 that hasn't been driven into a wall, I'd take a clean white car over a PTS crash damaged car any day.

I don't think a 997.1 looks better in any other colour than white-I think it's the cup car link but it just looks so purposeful.

Agree on the white - but I'm biased. Looks fantastic and in line with the cup cars of the time. What's not to like

Not so sure on the wannabe RS look myself.

I like the simplicity of its current form, but that 10 year service gap would put me off.

Agree. Got to be white for 997.1.

@Jefferson Steelflex, congrats on the purchase.

I think I was there the day after you had reserved it… but whilst it was still on the floor. Lovely car. Enjoy.

Congrats, welcome to the club.

White is my fave colour for a 997.1 GT3 too, but I had to settle for Meteor which isn't so bad smile

It's not for me but I like it - think it wears it just as well as the new 992 RS wears that retro colour scheme.

White cars are a very good base for stupid stripes and graphics, if you are into that sort of thing. Apparently. biggrin

+ another thumbup

Mine's basalt black but that wasn't my choice either. I think they look good in black when clean but keeping them that way is annoying. Cobalt would have been my first choice I think, followed by the greys and silvers. (ETA cobalt is a bit light and the aqua blue of the 997.2 is prob my favourite)

I'm a bit phobic of red and white Porsches as they're the classic colours of the 80s yuppie age. Back then as a kid I found 911s pretty ugly until the 964 came along.

Shame its had 4 more owners since it sold in 2021....Passed around plenty! I was led to believe this had a minor off on a track day hence the front bumper replacement and cable tied brake ducts that have been replaced. The first owner used it solely as a track car (hence lack of service history) from what I know...Thats why it had a fully plumbed in fire extinguisher system which has all now been removed (you can see the button for it on the nearside scuttle panel in the old photos and internal button on the centre console). The drilled holes in the floor report is enough to put me off this one...

I remember enquiring about it when JZM had it and they did more than what was on the list stated - they were waiting for new carpets when I called!

In other news, a thing happened. My car needed a new RMS seal and man maths kicked-in.

It was a long and extensive search, thankfully ended but I was about £30k over what I originally intended on spending!

Lightweight flywheel? Ooh, is it a 4.0 RS clutch/flywheel kit (I might have read that's what several people have done?)?
