I have been told up to 18 months from Dec 22 in UK for my GTS. Process seems to be 1. Apply. 2. Accepted as buyer. 3. Order raised and placed. 4. Wait for allocation, etc, delivery. Same in Germany according to most posts on PFF. Some even quoting they cannot get past 1. unless they also take Porsche finance and some stating books closed for 2023 orders on 911, but not universal across all dealers. German delivery times the same.

I’m sure that, in the current/foreseeable market, it would be a lot quicker.

However, this year will see the model change from 992.1 to 992.2, so that may be causing some delay for dealers getting their future allocations confirmed by Porsche.

However, my understanding is that a lot of 2022/23 production has been focussed on GTS builds, so there are a lot of cars in the system - pre-owned, cancelled orders, dealer stock - should find you a car pretty quickly if you are flexible on spec. Don’t pay over list though.

Thanks for that. I really do want my own spec though so guess it’ll be a wait.

Apply?

Accepted as a buyer?

Maybe for a halo model surely?

I spoke with 3 dealers, all quote 18-24 months for 911 base, S and GTS models. GT cars are faster, but you need to have a very good record of buying and selling your P-cars with the dealer.

I am also holding-out to get my own spec and brand spanking new vehicle, as I know what the flippers do with their cars.

You ask to buy a Porsche 911

Accepted as a buyer?

They decline as they want to maintain a regional customer base
They decline as they have no quota
They decline because between you and another the other buyer brings more to the OPC - finance deals. (This is the current Rolex dealer model - you can ask, be put on a list, but will never get that GMT)

Maybe for a halo model surely?
Not sure, but in Germany not exclusively, as all 911s are in demand

BLUF is OPC is in a super position - at the moment as long as the economy does not dip too much

I've not had a Porsche for a very long time, but popped in, placed an order on a T and had the order confirmed.

I actually got a bit carried away and put a deposit down on a GTS cab and turbo s cab at the same time on the basis it was suggested the T would come first, the GTS cab end of 2nd / start of 3rd quarter whereby the T would go back to them and likewise with the GTS when the Turbo S is scheduled for 1st quarter '24.

I wasn't asked about finance etc.

Accepted as a buyer??!

There are cancelled orders starting to appear. Some cars are moving as people who have been waiting are taking those cars instead of waiting for cars they have on order which will free up slots for later in the year.

There will be alot more cars available which are in build now and over the next few months which will be cancelled which will free up even more slots. I think the 18 months wait that you are being quoted is nonesense and if i were you i'd call around a few other dealers!

I am hoping that it will come sooner, albeit at some else's inability to take the order. Also many suppliers quote a longer lead time only to improve and make us feel good about it. It all certainly adds to the anticipation and discussion considerably more! In Germany there are new/cancelled/postponed quotas from Porsche AG to the Porsche centres every 2 months according to PFF DEU.

Where do you see cancelled orders? Speaking to my SE, they are shifting metal.

I do hope that the market normalise and we get back to 2018’s lead times.

That is a sales reps job.....they're unlikely to say they cant sell anything!

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/search?conditi...

Heres a couple and there have been at least 6-10 over the last few weeks which have appeared and then gone.

There are others which are not advertised as well.

The fact that wolves cant sell the black one without advertising speaks volumes!

911s are not selling ,2 opc buyers told me that a few weeks ago .
Look at how gts prices have collapsed the last few weeks .

The market has definitely slowed and most dealers now have showroom stock.
I was in one just before Christmas with two 992 GTSs on the showroom floor at list.

Of course, they will be trying to talk the confidence level up - the supposed high demand, long lead times, price premiums - have contributed to the impression that it is a sellers market - but I think the reality is definitely changing.

I had a similar experience when I talked with a SE in November. I think Porsche Retail Group (Reading, Guildford, W London, etc.) have been told not to take orders on certain 911s as they will likely never be fulfilled before the .2. When I said I wanted a T then the conversation changed and I was able to place an order. He also said that they have 30+ unallocated orders for Base, S, GTS, Targas and now a growing list for Ts.

No one at the dealership could explain what extra thing changed on 18 way rather than 14 way so I went 14 and they are excellent, the extra tilt and length control is definitely worth the dosh.
Wow, that’s some lazy dealership staff. The 14 and 18 way are based on different seats for a start….

Suffering from the ultimate 1st world of problems.
Have known for a couple of weeks that my car was scheduled to be delivered to the dealership on the 11th. Have been trying to be proactive and dot all the i's and t's but the salesman has been mediocre at best.
Phoned yesterday morning for an update and was told he was not in again until Monday. Was put through to another sales person who confirmed the car had arrived but nothing would happen before Monday and then it would take some time.
I am trying not to be too childish but equally I am giving them a shed load of money for something that is just a shear indulgence. They have not grasped that the customer experience is almost as important as the physical product.
They are in a position at present to take the attitude that I should be grateful for getting it at all. They overlook the fact that the economy is on a knife edge and bad service now will hurt them in the future.
This is how useless.
But the car more than makes up for them.

The car is all I hoped for and so much more.
It is a 40 year itch that I am scratching and a pure indulgence. It was just over £100k so that would have been a lot of coke and hookers but the car has been so much pleasure already I cant think the alternative could come close.
17 months from order to delivery but worth the wait.
Anyone thinking of jumping should just do it.

As this is a 40 year itch I am scratching the rear wiper was as iconic on the early cars as the big spoiler on the 80s turbos.
I seem to be in the minority but I absolutely love the rear wiper. It's the only thing missing on my new (to me) 991.1 C4S. Enjoy!
