My C2S is due into OPC mid-July, it’s still showing stage 3 on the app but it’s definitely in production as I was in OPC yesterday and saw it was in build on their system

Glad I’ve already got deposit in for my next one as they suggested 24 months lead time for somebody walking in now with no history!

Wow i was joking with someone today about ordering another car on collection of a new one but it just seems wrong. It felt bad enough doing it six or nine months in last time.

rather than a two year wait to end up with a Gen 1, at this stage and life cycle of the mode it would be better to wait a year, order a Gen 2, and wait a subsequent year. Same wait time.

Not sure I follow … but if they take 12 'production months' worth of new orders during the next calendar12 months, then won’t the wait still be 24 months in a year's time? So a three yea4 wait instead of two?

September - same time as I sold my previous 992C2S back to them - I was happy to go without for 6 months over the winter but March became April, May, June etc - for all the reasons we’re aware of.

maybe yep. I am unsure how they cross over in production between .1 coming to an end and .2 beginning. Lets say .2 orders can be made next Jan (hypothetically), would they sit on that order until all of .1's are fulfilled? in effect not starting .2 builds until .1 is exhausted in full ....thereby yep could be 3 years then.

Very cool… so replacing C2S with a new C2S. May I ask why did you select C2S as a replacement?

Of course you may… for me it’s the sweet spot in the range, more than enough power, lighter than some variants (relative), and the extra 50(?) bhp and less soundproofing of the GTS - which was the 'obvious upgrade' - seemed pointless/wasted on me. I also never felt I made the most of the last one as I got it in Q4 2019 so we were in covid lockdown for majority of time I owned it. my new C2S won’t be much different to my old one so in some respects a bit of a rewind/reset maybe? - very optimistic about residuals as I don’t think many have been made for UK this year

Pic of my old one in my profile link, my new one is http://www.porsche-code.com/PNFSVNJ7

But just to drive a coach and horses through all of my own logic above, my next deposit is on a Targa 4S ! - I’m sure I’ll fancy a change by then

@beedj , I like your logic and the spec. It reinforces my good decision re C2S. I like your retro seats, but with my dogs in and out leather is easier to keep clean.

I lust over Targa, but currently I am driving a Boxster and this year I took the rag-top off twice (to date). I will stick to hard top, for now smile

Hmm, has your OPC mentioned a PCGB email to OPCs of last week (I think) informing them of some "delays" or "severe delays" to 911 and 718 production..? Be keen to hear of others' experience.

My Touring was due to land at the dealer next Thursday, got a heads-up on Friday that it won't. No new date for arrival in the offing. "In production" seems to not be a guarantee that it's "being produced".

FWIW, similarly my App showed the Touring still at stage 3 long after I know it had entered prod, but earlier in the year another of my orders did show as/when you'd expect on the App as in stage 4, or whatever it is.

I like the C2, as it is the cheapest!

As far as speed goes, I hardly ever get to use full throttle, so who wants anything quicker?

At the weekend I filled up, and I drove as fast as possible from my place to the Lakes and back again, 400 miles.I still had 100 miles left in the tank when I got home. Never had the opportunity to use full throttle once.

My dragy app regularly indicates 3.5 seconds to 60. No sports chrono. The car was still accelerating strongly at 168 mph on an airfield. Thats enough speed for the road!!!

Maybe a different story if you want to track it, but it could be an expensive afternoon in a £100k+ car.

WE have now done 32,000 miles, one oil change £750, 2 sets of fronts and 3 sets of rears. She still looks like new, what a car.

I have picked a manual for the next one, the PDK is about perfect though.

I ordered Targa a couple of months ago, spoke to the dealer last week. He reckons it is about Sept 2023. By then my C2 will be getting on a bit, however I am sure it will still be mint.

Points very well made, @politeperson

Very few of us are able to regularly utilize all the kW’s, however, there is something primeval to have a lot of Nm at your disposal and it presses my caveman buttons. Do I need it, probably not. Do I want it, hell yea!

When I drove 991 C2, it felt slower and less responsive than my Boxster. When I drove 992 C4S it felt faster and more responsive than my Boxster. I find it hard to go back to a more restrained vehicle, and because I will have to at some point, I rather take C2S while I can still enjoy it.

not my money of course but if I was you I would seriously consider one of these 4 instead of your interior choice.

If not the black/Classic Cognac combo, then the Heritage Design Classic leather, Black on Black

...as. your interior choice, being so basic lets it down in my opinion, but thats easy for me to say and to spend your money, but think about it, £100+K for an interior with such cheap fabric and plastic. i'd rethink it.

Nope. They reckon end of year going into next year now. So basically I'm in no rush now as I'll pick it up next spring rather than winter. Was also talking to them about a Taycan but there was a fire at the battery factory so they are major delayed as well!

There goes my plan to order a Taycan. I’ve finally convinced the wife we need one.

Is collection in Stuttgart and drive back to UK still an option?

When the time comes I would fancy a collection trip.

I recall circa 3 B.C. (before Covid) it was an option, but that was also before Brexit. I am not sure if the regulations have changed.
