Back to the cinema for the first time in 2 years to Top Gun Maverick. 🍿Not only is it an amazing film full of action, great music and ‘80s memorabilia with glimpses of the original 1986 film. It finishes with the epitome of cool a classic 911s.
Great bit of escapism after all the craziness we have all had to put up with over the past 2 years.

I haven’t seen it yet, but the classic 911 sounds like a nice hint to the 356 on the original.

Saw it last night. Great escapism, and very good fun. Wife now wants to rewatch the original tonight.

It's basically the same as The Force Awakens and Star Wars. They've remade something very close to the original story, which very effectively pushes the audiences' buttons via cues and homages to the original.

Currently getting 8.7 on IMDB, which puts it in rare company (1986 original gets 6.9).

And yes, Jennifer Connolley definitely did it for me.

I was going to give a Maverick a miss, until it’s on Netflicks. However, if fellow PistonHeaders are impressed, I will probably go out and check it out.

Watched it this evening with my bro (who's a Wing Commander engineer). We both gave it the seal of approval.

Great film, minimal CGI, cracking flight sequences. Recommended. (and the 911 is lovely too)

Another positive vote here. It’s even more enjoyable knowing how little CGI was used. Great action movie

I wasn't going to bother watching 'Top Goose' in the cinema, but mates (whose judgment I trust) reckon it's worth a watch, so I'll try to get to see it on the big screen.

Worth going to the cinema for the opening scenes alone, the sound engineering is incredible.

Mrs PB and I went yesterday.

I have to concede I excitedly whispered 'silver Porsche' to her whenever it came on screen.

(I have an Arctic Silver 986S!)

I know that as a man who turns 44 this time next week, I should have seen the original. But I'm afraid I haven't. Enjoyed it nonetheless though, great film.

You haven't missed anything. it hasn't stood the test of time. There is a good reason it gets a 6 on IMDB, its pants.

Be glad that 44 next week is probably too young to get the cultural effect the film had on those who are the wrong side of 50. Go watch both and make up your own mind.
