Porsche PCCM+ upgrade for 997.1 .Any time soon?
Discussion
Thanks for the reviews guys. I'm seriously considering this on my 997.1.
Few of questions:
- I'm confused about the USB cable. What is it for and why can't whatever its for be done via Bluetooth?
- I believe the pricing is £1500 installed and with the maps package?
- How long did it take to fit?
Thanks!
- The PCCM+ modules doesn’t support CarPlay over Bluetooth, it needs a USB connection. You’re just going to have to take your phone out of your handbag (some people are complaining about that but it doesn’t bother me)
- About that, yep
- Based on the fitting charge I’m thinking about an hour or so - I had it done during a service

I had a professional install as the ripping apart of the interior to fit the aerials and wires is easier on the second try. Didnt really want to use my car as a dry run.
Porsche advises you fit the microphone on top of the steering column housing but dealer hid it behind which I wouldn't have thought of.
Honestly plugging in a cable is easy and no idea why Bluetooth music would be a deal breaker. My phone auto connects to bluetooth for some functions and as i really only listen to radio 4 I don't need to plug it in at all.
The job was a couple of hundred plus vat and took about 4 hours to do. The old unit is saved in the PCCM box in case somebody in 2043 wants an OEM car again.
Best bit is i can configure stuff like auto wipers and courtesy lights etc through settings in PCCM. Or play the whole Beatles back catalogue through a USB stick, keep that in ashtray and no need to connect my phone via cable.

If the PCCM+ units support wired Carplay then you could always add an Ottocast box for wireless. Have just done this on my 718GTS and it works a treat (having the phone plugged in via the centre console was a PITA) - this does away with the need to plug the phone in.
Thanks for this - following your adviceI did order an Ottocast U2-X Pro and so far it's working OK with both iPhone and Android Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
