It's quite surprising Porsche didn't restrict numbers of the 992.1 Dakar drastically so when overs went mental they could pump the numbers for the 992.2 Dakar-same as they did with the Sports Classic.
Or release it as a regular model, the 992.2 Carrera X (bit like when the 991R became the GT3 Touring).
This is what I'm hoping for. One with rear seats

Rumour has it that 992 Dakar was an experiment to create new category. Now that the R&D spend is probably capitalised, 992.2 Carrera X makes perfect sense and would be an awesome outcome!

It's intresting, but I find the reference to military specification laughable.
Prefer some of the basic liveried versions.

Nice!

Got his arse chewed off by a golf, then picked up some gravel rash!

Looks stiffer than I would of thought though

Is it me or are there just insane numbers of brand new Dakars for sale / being flipped? I thought there would have been more enthusiasm from owners to keep / use them. Nuts.

Attempted flipping. Would have a better chance of them selling if they didn't all come with the full bucket seats and roll cage.

I was in Austria the other week and saw three non stickered Dakars in the mountains. Was good to see them being used properly.

Couldn't agree more. Done 3k in mine, white with white wheels and comfy chairs. Wonderful car.

As a matter of interest, do you miss not having THAT engine ?

The wound-up turbo 3.0 gives a lot more torque from lower in the rev range, so should be more suitable ...

Complete waste of time car, if I wanted to drive fast off-road with dialed in handling and power would buy the forgotten Macan Turbo with Performance Pack, take it to Litchfield and with the £160k saved would buy a Ferrari F12. This car is only good for Porsche Shareholders, a total folly car and the market will crucify its value over next 5 years.

You’ll probably right. Porsche have such a history of misjudging the market and making cars that no one wants……not

Sure for the Gulf States, but in the UK, give me a break.. hey we got a lot of clients looking for a 911 for the UK pothole roads, and they want the Rothmans Colours on it as well, and £200k.. bus loads of them..
