the extra cars are a bit like the GT4 extra cars !!!
NOT extra cars, just the 2nd batch of allocation !
just part of the 2 year numbers allocation ! and the 2nd batch were not allocated at launch.
ie GT4 was 129 cars then people went crazy and said loads more cars, but there were always going to be circa 200 cars !!
the new Spyder 85 cars , but shock horror more new cars, but there were always going to be circa 150 cars !!
Thanks that all makes perfect sense now - Any idea if these 2016 cars will all be built before 981.2 kicks off which I expect will be circa May/June 2016NOT extra cars, just the 2nd batch of allocation !

Oddly enough I enquired about having the paint to order on mine with a Dec delivery
Was told no as that would delay the car for 3/4 months and they may not be building any in 2016
Confusing !!
PTS option was shutdown end of July so it appears the next scheduled orders can only be for the standard colour range. Was told no as that would delay the car for 3/4 months and they may not be building any in 2016
Confusing !!
When I ordered my car I took the latest possible build date showing on the dealers system ie December 2015 but I really wanted the car anytime after the winter had been and gone but at that time there were no build dates showing for cars past December 2015
Presumably the 2016 build dates are now showing for all models and that goes along with PORSCHEGT4's post above
My dealer talked me into his December build car as he couldn't confirm what if any his allocation might be in 2016 - Having gone for PTS and what with all the bucket seat delays since ordering my car is unlikely to be here before March/April anyway Perfect timing for me

It certainly is - amazing roads when there's no traffic - PEC is quite a set up, which car did you prefer?
The GT3 was epic, very loud and shouty and felt like a racing car, which it basically is. The engine and transmission chuntered at lower speeds and it felt very at home on track whereas on road its too fast really with too much grip. It was hard to get it to oversteer, even on the low grip surface as the rear is so well planted with the massive tyres and weight of the engine.Interestingly it had done 13000 miles all on the PEC circuit bar a few road miles and was taking the abuse like a hero!
In comparison the Spyder is a road car and feels it next to the GT3. In terms of preference I would have a Spyder for the road every day.
I work form home and so I don't need a daily drive but the GT3 was just past my limit of nuttiness. You have to go so fast to enjoy it and as I am a driver as against a poser, I don't think I would trust myself.
The GT4 was a thought (they had a black one which looked amazing btw with the satin palladium wheels) but coming from a Cayman R (which is for sale btw with 14k miles at £42000 with Porsche warranty till 2017) I want something a bit different plus they're rarer!

Mines due in December but I don't have any garage space. If there are more cars coming in 2016 I may be up for a 'swap' of allocation if such thing is possible and someone wants a car earlier. I am speaking to dealer tomorrow but if anyone on here is interested my car is still speccable.
Spoke to the OPC today and they said they won't have any more cars later than Q1 next year. They also confirmed that mine won't be ready until January due to the 918 style seats. So will keep my original order as there's no option to move to a later car.2010spy said:

Quick insurance update for those who track:
£510 from Porsche with 2 track days
£1100 from Mannings with unlimited track days
Mannings it is then; circa 12 track days per year for mine = less than £60 per day cost over and above over 'normal' cover compared to single day and track insurance at £350 to £500 - happy days.
Competition Cars are very reasonable and service excellent in my experience but track days are limited to five.

Ticked too many boxes but as its a keeper I don't care !
Also advised that very very few additional cars coming
To count on two hands more - give or take
Lucky to have got one of the very few
Looks like I've managed to grab one of the "two handed 10" December build with Dec or Jan delivery
