So ..... Forgetting the roof
Had my first real drive in the car today
Richmond to Cambridge
M25/A1/then A roads
Car was comfortable with the 18 way seats
Spotify on the Burmeister
Car incredibly responsive
Quick is not the word - not even the sport or sport plus button pressed
Came back smiling
Then a 991 4S cab passed and I thought would I spend another £50k on a 991
No thanks - the Spyder is unique l
Looks the part and drives as fast as you want it to
My 991 GT3 sits in the garage - think it might be jealous of my new addition

Not sure but I think you have missed the boat..You could try and email every dealer and ask the question .A few at the dealers for sale depends how desperate you are for one ..How much over invoice value are you prepared to go to secure one ??
Thanks, that technique worked for the GT4, but I'm not desperate enough to pay overs to secure a car, it will be list or nothing.wdpor said:

Hi I've been lurking around hear for ages. It's a fantastic forum for knowledge and chatter about our beloved Spyder's. I wanted to add after ringing Porsche OPC today that the rear grilles behind our seats don't have any speakers in them, if you've got SPP. We don't know what's these grilles are for, is it for pumping engine noise into the interior or maybe for theBurmeister or Bose setup (I've seen this mentioned in a forum over the pond). Maybe others on here can confirm if there is music coming out of them. It could be a generic apperature which is configured to individual countries. I asked the OPC where are all the 9 speakers? He said there are hidden speakers behind the door cards, in addition to the speakers behind the door grilles.
I think your OPC is spinning you a yarn. Look at the previous few pages on the forum. My OPC has admitted the sound system hasn't been built to spec. I await feedback. Watch this space.mdianuk said:

Thinking back, I also owned a 987 Cayman S new in 2008. I am sure it had rear speakers and SPP at that time. I also think it had a CD changer unit that took up some of the front boot space, would that be correct? Can anyone on the forum confirm with their 987 Boxsters or Caymans with SPP they have rear speakers? Am I just imagining this? Would be interesting to find out.

I can confirm my 981 Spyder with SPP also doesn't have rear speakers or the fade function, but the GT4 with SPP does. Also the salesman tried a random new Boxster in the showroom with SPP, and no fader or rear speakers in that either.

The question becomes what would you rather have have a Spyder with a couple of hundred miles on the clock for £90k or a just over basic spec carrera s at the same price? What is better value? What will the residuals be like on both? Interesting, I know what I would have but I am obviously biased being on this forum.
See your point but 911's are not a consideration for me. Remember I have a GT4 on order, so it is merely a choice between the two, so I wouldn't pay overs on that basis just to secure one, but would be willing to order one at list and try them both out, see which I prefer Bieldside said:

Looks like all Spyders with SPP don't have rear speakers / fader option. I still await further feedback from the OPC. The question becomes what are Porsche going to do about it if anything? A spyder will depreciate much slower than a Carrera S which will just keen going south. wdpor said:

And, on the flipside, is it just a matter of popping them in (are wiring and connectors present) and tweaking the PCM software?woodysnr said:
Depends how hard it is raining...it takes me around 2/3 mins never been an issue in putting up or down the roof and it is totally rain proof never had a drop inside even in thunderstorms . Have to say the roof line looks nicer in the 987
The only time I ever had trouble with my 987 Spyder roof is when I took out a (female) friend on a day that was very iffy weather-wise. It suddenly started just bucketing down...Every other time that I wanted to put the roof on, it would be done in mere moments, but not this time.
By the time I finally managed to get the roof on, she looked like someone had tipped a bath of water over her.
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Oddly, she didn't see the funny side at all at the time, especially as I was only concerned about my alcantara. :-D
Fortunately, she did (much) later decide that it had at least been something to laugh about when viewed with hindsight. Phew.

at £90k a slighty used 991 GTS cab, as paying overs just seems crazy and poor value, you also get the real engine :-) I know what I would have but I am not biase lolPorsche911R said:
