Just received a driver manual supplement in the post "engaging convertible top fins!". Not had a problem with mine (touch wood!).
I had a disaster, one popped out at high speed, flapped about and dented the boot. Had to get the complete boot lid resprayed and the nearside plastic securing trim replaced. All is well now the colour match is perfect.wdpor said:

I specifically checked for any signs of damage when I collected my car. What a nightmare for you. m33ufo said:

was raining yesterday and I had to pop my roof on, was pretty sure both sides snapped in but when tensioned roof I noticed the passenger side had popped out !! I have had some protection film put on my boot lid around the area it would catch just in case.
what does the supplement say ? should the boot be shut before roof tensioning ?
The boot should be shut first to reduce the tension a little - remember the tension increaes as the boot opens.
However, as one owner had a problem whereby - having first closed the boot - his roof failed to latch but the sensors insisted it had done so and disabled the boot release leaving him in limbo with a roof unable to be latched or lowered.
So I always shut my boot at the very end. That way, should something fail, I can still open the boot to stow it.
Well, I say always, but my roof has only been up on three brief episodes in seven months...

Its a really bad design. There is too much room for ambiguity and subjectivity. It is difficult to see the pin underneath and I suggest the securing latch on the spigot (which only protrudes about 6mm) is too small to hold the fin in place at 180 mph. I will however never do 180mph in the car so I will never know.
Surprisingly poor show Porsche. I suggest that the design should have had a positive clip shut and securing pin that should have been accessed from within the boot area. A simple design that you see on critical areas in light aircraft and even Microlights. Not rocket science. This is probably the only real safety criticism that I can see on the car.

Since collection on May 12th my roof has never been back up and I would be all at sea if I needed to raise it at Silverstone Classic & Porsche National meeting this weekend However, as one owner had a problem whereby - having first closed the boot - his roof failed to latch but the sensors insisted it had done so and disabled the boot release leaving him in limbo with a roof unable to be latched or lowered.

Was out for a drive on Sunday when had to do a quick halt in layby and put roof up.
Becoming an expert at putting it up when rain appears.
We are having such mixed weather, lovely bright and sunny then it is pouring down.

same and its times like that I wish I almost had my 981 S , the electric roof on that was fantastic for our weather! I tend to find once I stick it back up when we out and caught in a down pour I leave it up as its a chew to stop get out and stick it back down. was much easier just pushing a button ! had a few times where its rained and didnt fancy stopping so I have just kept going and once up to a decent speed you can actually stay reasonably dry !I would just add that it's a good idea to feel the hole where the red pin/flag would be - you can feel it more easily than see it. At least I can. It's not so much that I am good at feeling, more that I am bad at seeing. Hearing too, really, so forget the 'audible click' business for me...

Got this from instagram. Pic featured what looked to be a standard 981 yellow Boxster Spyder. This are the mods from bgb Motorsports:
"On tap are a 4.0L engine upgrade with X51 heads, cams and intake mated to a #Cargraphic exhaust for better sound and flow. We are adding a 14 lb lightweight flywheel, a differential from @guardtransmission & some tuning to take the power from 375 HP to an estimated 480 + horsies! As fas as we know this will be the most potent Boxster Spyder in the world!"

Should there be a picture in here somewhere?"On tap are a 4.0L engine upgrade with X51 heads, cams and intake mated to a #Cargraphic exhaust for better sound and flow.
