Spydermen it took just 7 years and we have a £55k Spyder for sale in 2017
987 Spyder 3.4. 6 speed manual transmission. First registered 14/12/2011 (2012 model year by chassis 'C'). Finished in Carrara White with Black leather lightweight carbon backed / folding bucket seats. Supplied originally by Porsche Centre Sheffield. 2 former keepers. Porsche Main Agent service history from new with servicing carried out at the following intervals :-
09/10/2013 at 2133 miles (Porsche Centre Colchester)
16/11/2015 at 4014 miles (Porsche Centre Leicester
Next service due 16/11/2017 or at 24014 miles which ever comes first.
Without doubt the finest first generation Spyder we've seen. Indistinguishable from new and in flawless / Concours condition. Given the mileage, said condition and the car arguably having the perfect specification we can't see another example getting anywhere close. On reflection this is probably the cleanest car of any type we've offered for sale, ever !
Unmarked 19" RS Spyder alloys (Black centre / silver circumference), Lightweight Carbon Backed Bucket Seats, PSE (Porsche Switchable Sports Exhaust), Sports Chrono Package Plus, Climate Controlled air conditioning, Factory fitted short shifter, PCM 3.0 touchscreen Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth telpehone preparation and Universal Audio Interface. Sound Package Plus, Chronometer in Carrara White, rear park assist, Alcantara interior package, roll over bars in Carrara White, electric windows, electric mirrors, ABS, power steering, remote central locking and Thatcham Category 1 alarm / immobiliser.
Original bill of sale, fully invoice supported service history, all MOT certificates, x2 keys and no Rev Range incursions recorded past the limiter.
Detailed images to follow.
4,300 recorded miles.

I have one and they are 100% not fake, Porsche dont do fake only aftermarket are fake and they are called dimples. You should note the hole is smaller than it appears because of a large chamfer on the hole. Try a 3mm drill and go from there.
there are some blocked holes in all my cars. which are not really holes.Question for you gentlemen.
Would you ever buy a very low mileage car (like the 2 that have just sold) with the intention of driving them and putting on some sensible mileage ?
It may be my madness, but I would just feel guilty racking up the miles....
So I would have to buy one with circa 20K miles on, and just go drive... guilt free
How about you all ??

Yes, so that's two 987 Spyders with asking prices of 55k and both sold very quickly, although they were both very low mileage and what people call 'perfect spec'. Maybe going to collectors, anyone on here bought one of those cars??
No but the white one from virgin 911 is my old car that I had from new for 3.5 years even paid less new than what it sold for recently! I always knew that one day it would be sort after its the one car I would have kept if funds allowed!Pretty sure all genuine Porsche drilled discs have a small number of 'dimples' on the outside edges and these are used as disc thickness indicators - when the dimple is no longer visible the disc is below minimum thickness and needs replacing.
Careful if you try to clear these dimples with your 4mm drill as it could take a while LOL!

Personally I would not buy a low mileage Spyder with the intention of racking up miles on it unless I was in the financial position to not worry about the price drop come resale time. However due to lack of availability there have only been a few up for sale with "normal" day to day car miles and they have not been massively cheaper than the low mile equivalents (£6k-8k is memory serves me right, but sure someone will correct me if i am wrong).
I know we should not worry about miles however you get sucked into the "keep it low miles" philosophy to keep the most value. My Spyder has 13,800, it's now averaging 200-600 miles per year since 2014. Sad to say this is the first time its been out of the garage this year and it was only because the electrician was fitting a new exterior light to the garage

My spyder is a 981. Can anyone check for me on their 981 if the holes are all holes , or are some fake! Thanks.
Given mine a good washing down tonight and can confirm as already mentioned that only the 3 middle holes are proper holes, the ones on the edge and sometimes inner row are the dimples.... mine all look okdouglasgdmw said:

Looks like a low mileage car similar to yours would now be circa £45k.
So you could drive 55k miles for a cost of £13k.
That seems pretty good value to me.
It's all man maths, isn't it.....
Now it's dry, I'm back commuting in mine racking up 40 miles a day (or a few more if it's sunny and I can't resist the long drive home !!).
Every morning I look at my keys.... Spyder or A6 diesel ..........
Surely I would be nuts to go A6

Unless they make any more of them, they might well appreciate a little too. If you want to drive one around a little, it's cheap motoring for what you are getting. I am a firm believer in enjoying a car doing what it was made for. It's always good when the financial penalties aren't too huge.Looks like a low mileage car similar to yours would now be circa £45k.

Sorry but that's nuts. Why tie up £40k+ in a car, then pay VED and insurance each year to do 200-600 miles pa.However due to lack of availability there have only been a few up for sale with "normal" day to day car miles and they have not been massively cheaper than the low mile equivalents (£6k-8k is memory serves me right, but sure someone will correct me if i am wrong).

Too many people worrying about value, rather than enjoying driving. Get out and drive it!
