If you like yellow... it looks like a cracker.

I've been to Ashgoods a couple of times recently looking at cars.
Mike is a really good guy and very accommodating.

I couldn't do yellow but that's a great price and will surely be snapped up. OPC cars are in the mid 80s, and what exactly is the benefit of OPC when you have a warranty anyway?

Sorry but that's nuts. Why tie up £40k+ in a car, then pay VED and insurance each year to do 200-600 miles pa.

Too many people worrying about value, rather than enjoying driving. Get out and drive it!
My thoughts exactly. For me the whole point of a car is to drive it. Don't want to look back on life and wonder why I didn't drive these things!!

It's the cheapest for 2 reasons. 1: it's yellow with yellow interior, and 2: it has no PCM. If those 2 points don't bother you, then go for it!

It's strange, I really don't like the matching painted interiors on the 981 (I went for the black Satin Ali, which I'm very happy with), but think it looks great on the 987.

Plus there's a fair chance demand for these cars will drop as automated cars arrive (and it's happening quicker than most realise), reducing value and opportunity to use them. Drive them and use them, you don't know how long you'll still be able to enjoy them in the way you can now!

The only reason that I tend not to use it is that I don't get a chance to very often (same with the motorbike).

Unfortunately the days of going for long blasts in the car are few + far between, 2 working cocker spaniels who need walked at weekends put paid to that unfortunately. Did think of letting them tag along on a drive but one loves the car and the other hates it, so can't take them in it.

As the car does not owe me anything except VED, insurance and servicing, I am happy for it to sit in the garage and use it when the opportunity arises.

No point in selling it and getting a bundle of cash, as any opportunity to use it completely disappear's then.

George

Its been for sale for ages, first at Newcastle OPC, then Sheffield OPC, now at this dealer. I would have thought it would have been snapped up but for some reason not, maybe PCM or the interior yellow, im not sure.

My Boxster Spyder now reduced for quick sale

Got a better deal on replacement than expected, which I don't want to miss.

I'm not familiar with the market (and I get it's ragtop) but is the lack of A/C not an issue ?

I don't get the UK obsession with AC, my Lotus never had AC and now dealers say it's a must have for resale in an Elise ! When did that happen ?

The Spyder is an open concept design and the key feature was all about this and the lightweight, adding AC in old car is a bad idea imo, faulty rads, endless condensors, that nice dead cat smell, it's just weight and hassle on cars coming upto 10 years old.

I don't get it myself but it puts so many people off I am a bit shocked by it.

The Coupes seem to need AC to sell, but ffs an open concept roofless car lol it just ruins it, the Boxster S is a great car, the Spyder is what it is , I think buy into the concept or save £25k and buy a Boxster S with ac and a working roof :-)

Ha so the car is £11000 underpriced following a heatwave in peak buying season approaching summer. What utter bks.

Talk about talking up the market.

Its obviously a £42k car max.

End of. biggrin:

Yes to many it is. Very few people buy the lightweight strap line these days as cars are so damn heavy so they want a/c even if it hardly ever gets used. I got caught in 35c with knackered a/c on my spyder and stuck in traffic on a long journey and both of us were pretty fed up. I wouldnt buy it

without a doubt the right spec lightweight low milage cars will be 60K cars in the not too distant future. buy while they are still affordable.
I don't talk up the price as my Spyder went a while ago and even then i knew what would happen with the price of these cars.
As for air con in a light weight open top car, what a load of tosh. most buyers only want it because they think they will never be able to sell it in the future without it. i have had air con in various cars that i have owned and at the age of 55 i can count on one hand the amount of times i have ever used it. buy what you want to use and enjoy not what you think the next owner may want

Aircon in any condensation prone softtop is essential for quick demisting and safe driving in the 'cooler' non summer months.

I never use sat nav on any of my cars but not speccing it when new is financial lunacy should you need to sell...as the substantially reduced £ yellow 981 Spyder with no pcm recently indicates. Aircon really is no different and a no brainer essential option even in an older car.

I can completely see why it's not for you, but I'm afraid you're the minority. It's nothing to do with re-sale but understanding these cars are not track weapons - there're for holiday and high day hooning. If I went out for blast and got caught in summer downpour (and traffic), of course I'd want ac like everyone else.

Having an extreme spec makes a car noteworthy not necessarily more desirable (to the masses).

Imho.
