Jay,

Yep heat is the key for the P Zero's as had a good blast with a 996 GT3 in the 987 Spyder on a nice warm day.

What pressures do you set the tyres to?

George
they overheat in 2 laps on track, so pretty useless tyres all round.

Tyres.... Again.

Going to finally order some.

I think I will stick with PS2 for the 987 Spyder. Was tempted by PS4S, but not sure about moving from known options and just go like for like.

One question... Michelin site gives front tyre option as 91 ZR(Y) XL n2 for the 987 Spyder.

On the car currently (as supplied new) is 87 ZR(Y) N2.

Has anyone else got the higher load tyres fitted and what would the difference be in either option?

Anyone put PS4S on their spyder?

Cheers.
I have PS4s and they are a bit harsh, I would go PSS while you can.
Went for PS2 in the end. Sticking with the known quantity.

Bit of a delay on the fronts at the moment though.

Also decided that more grip wasn't the way to go. Not going to a circuit anytime soon and even if I did it would be for a bit a fun and outright pace really wouldn't matter.

The cars plenty fast enough and it sticking even more in the bends would not add to the driving experience in my view.

Hopefully get 7 years out of these ones also!!!

miles is key to price and it's 3x the amount of the ave Spyder hence the price, plus no Buckets or Carbon etc.
I doubt it's a lot more than £62k maybe £63k. l remember specing a nice higher spec Spyder with buckes and Carbon for £66k inc the £1k showroom tax.

one will have to stump up £520 to tax this car also.

I still cannot see the good value in it with those miles on it myself, well not enough to make a post and say how cheap it is lol
It was mine - £68,700 list.... bit of a moot point as it appears to have been sold. Cheers

Is this the sign of things to come, LHD but it makes 911V and JZM cars look cheap!

Do you think that is meant to be Euros?

Which would roughly put it at top end spyder UK prices.

Have you given them a try mate? I was getting 2.4 bar today whilst today and they still felt fine. However locking up under breaking. I have 3.0 mm on the rear so next up I may go Cup 2 for my road tyre, if I can get N rated.

Hi Jayk,
I switched to Cup 2. Great tyres until winter arrives. I was a little blasé about how tricky they were when things got close to icey and over shot a junction through sheer lack of grip so worth getting a second set of tyres if this is for your daily.
Cheers.

So...

I bought the yellow JZM car. It's not in perfect condition, but its very close.

The mileage was less important to me; I'm planning to be visiting the continent a couple of times this summer, trips that will likely total 6+ thousand miles. Theres little point in paying the best part of £85K for a 1000 mile example and then putting that kind of mileage on it in a few months.

Better (if you plan to use a car frequently) to buy one which has lost it's premium already, stop worrying about the mileage, and enjoy it.

It's been detailed and wrapped, the tyres are new and the wheels have been refurbed. Everything else is spot on.

I bought it knowing it's been on a track, and with a fairly good idea of its other history (previous owner posts on this forum and never made a secret of it).

I'm bloody delighted with it, and personally think I got a very fair deal. I'd have paid more!

Welcome to the Spyder fold.

It is interesting how many people say that they have or intend to take their Spyders on a road trip. I'm sure it's not unique to this car but it is the perfect car to take. You can cruise comfortably for miles, enjoy the twisty stuff and still squeeze in more than enough packing for two people.

I'm planning some sort of Germany trip this year. I've had a theme in the past to give me a target to move from one place to the next but I've yet to identify a theme for this years trip.

Anyway ThirstyMoose enjoy your Spyder smile

I have been reading about tyres for the spyder. Is there any other choice than P Zeros?? Looking at getting PS Cup2 rears N rated but not for the front . Could you fit new PS 4S on the front?? Is this madness? Not N rated and also different model of tyre. Any help most appreciated. It feels like little choice for the 981 Spyder. Or do I try and wait till new N rated PS4S. Meant to be available by Sept.

I don't think mixing types of tyres front and rear is advice ever dished out for performance cars.

At Porsche East London Q & A evening with Magnus Walker last week he said these cars are for driving and whilst he has no interest in garage queens show him a Porsche with 100's of thousands of miles and adventures on it that's a car with an interesting history and used as intended

Good luck with yours and its one cracking piece of kit have fun
