237 and many of them heavily discounted by any standards not to mention Porsche who couldn't bring themselves to use that particular swear word so the invoice read "Less Allowance" licklaugh

Try May 2011 that's the "Less Allowance" experience I was referring to and on a factory fresh order not a car sitting on a showroom floor eek

Kind of assuming from the threads it will be n/a. If not, may have to accept that turbo is the inevitable future and thatthe Spyder will be state of the art.

Porsche's sales figures rose by 28% in the UK in 2010.

Usual quality research.

no-one knew then that the Boxster Spyder could end global warming and bring about world peace or that its owners would be blessed with omniscience.

Are you a nut job ?

Porsche sales were lower over all due to global recession.

05/06 96.7k unit’s sold
07/08 98.7k unit’s sold
09/10 a slump to 81k units sold

Now in 2016 Porsche sell 237k units and sell more Macans now per year than all models put together in 2010.

If you want to break it down to Europe Boxster sales they peaked at 10k PA
But in 2010 and 2011 Boxster sales were an all time low of 3.3k and 3.1k the lowerest in Europe Boxster sale history.

But let's not let figures get in the way of some bullst to fit some other bullst :-p

My mental health is fairly robust, thanks.

You have now done some research after posting and are using the global and European sales figures as evidence in a discussion about the 237 BS sold in the UK, whereas I am using the UK sales figures, which would seem more relevant.

So my figures don't get in the way of my point, which is that contrary to your assertion that 'no-one was buying cars in 2010', many people were; in fact almost 7000 people bought a new Porsche in 2010, which was 28% more than 2009.

Fair enough, only 121 of these new cars were BS, which is a very apt abbreviation in the light of your 'argument' cited above.

So with winter coming I've put the Spyder into storage and I now own a 4 x 4.

The catch is I'm now working in the southern hemisphere smile The 4 x 4 is need.

You know, I rally didn't realise just how much I liked the 981 Spyder until recently...and this thread has really cemented that feeling for me.

The blue one above is gorgeous and I've seen an Agate Grey one for sale recently that looking incredible, too.

Does the roof make it as usable as a Boxster, or is that not quite as perfect as it may seem?

Unlike my original 987 Spyders the 981 roof is so good you can safely run it out to 180mph when up lick

Its a nice tight well sealed fit

Roll on spring 2018

It Is a bit noiser than a standard Boxster, but not in a bad way. I don’t find wind noise a big issue.
Surely you want to hear that engine/exhaust more anyway !

The hood is obviously more of a hassle than the full electric version, but it’s all part of making the car feel different and special.

If using it as a daily, I would suggest you just wouldn’t put the roof down quite so often.

I’ve now got a 987 BS gen2 and a 981 Spyder.
The 987 is a really nice sports car, but the Spyder is in a different league for my personal enjoyment.

I honestly don’t know what other car I would swap it for.

After a year a half of ownership the only thing it doesn't do well is a wet Sunday night on the M40. It can start to drone a bit. So if you are after a car to stomp up and down the motorways in then, maybe, there are better cars.

I've used mine as a daily and I've taken it, with a mate, camping, across France and Germany. It did both with such ease and 'presence'. It is such an accomplished car. I think some would say, too accomplished but for for an average Joe like me, it's near perfect. This why I'm paying to have it stored rather than selling it, while I'm working abroad.
