Interesting to see the price of the car with the GT3 engine.

Reckon nudging £80k possible.

Given a used 991.1 GT3RS engine and gearbox is currently for sale at £45k...anyone reckon Porsche will put one in a car nudging £80k? I know the comparison is apples and pomegranates but....

Sounds cheap if it has a GT3 engine.

Will be mega if accurate.
I would think it would have made sense to have the 2.5 4cyl to push the new engine line up ?
the 981 spyder is fast enough i reckon . For me anyway!.
If new car is an 80k car then it is at a different price point as a new car than the 981.
This will be an overs car . 100k all day long.

But sooner have the old C2S powerkitted lump and a cheaper car rather than a dearer car with a strangled GT3 engine and dire economy like the 981 GT4.

This would suit the Spyder better at say 425 bhp and keep the GT3 engine strangled at say 440bhp for the GT4.

I would take a detuned £45k engine myself, and fit the correct size TB for £250 to release the 500bhp -smile

Very easy to get 430bhp from the GT4as it stands , makes the car very cheap to own such a thing.

But I don’t see them fitting GT3 engines to cars 1/2 the price.

I note that the same speculation appears in both Autocar and Auto Express today. But neither rag quotes a source, casting doubt on the provenance of the rumour. Let's face it, there are only two possibilities and one definitely sells more papers/clicks!!

If true, the 718 GT4 would be some car, but by how much can they undercut the GT3? Apart from its location, the engine is currently the main differentiator.

Porsche can effectively ask what they like for a limited run focussed GT 911 and broadly it would sell irrespective whereas the Cayman and Boxster has a limited max price.

It's all in the branding.

Yes but with dealer feedback on what price used GT4's & Spyders command they have plenty of wiggle room to move the car up at all levels ie performance way ahead of 718 GTS and price tag way ahead of their 981 list prices now GT4 & Spyder with 911 running gear has been firmly established as a real winning model

Tis only pure glossy magazine speculation at this stage anyway....and Preuninger has been wrong before.

Preuninger's quote is from earlier in the year and is being used out of any justifiable context to lend credence to the rest of the article.

Ive had my car just over a two months now, unfortunately due to work ive only managed 800 miles. However the highlight of those certainly came Sunday when I got up at 6am to blast across the Surrey Hills and towards the South Downs.

Car is simply brilliant on the road, i love how it moves around. Then the roof down just ads to the theatre... my only gripe is the clutch its a nasty thing. Clutch on the 997 gt3 / 964 RS rep in the family is far nicer. They're heavy but in no way snappy.

Brilliant brilliant car and so pleased I bought one instead of a GT4.

Glad you’re enjoying it - not sure I understand your point on the clutch - I really like it - can you expand ? Cheers smile

It feels overly sprung to me like it wants to kick your foot off. The 997 GT3s is just lovely and firm and easy to modulate.

I think it might have to do with the folding buckets sitting me higher in the car. My Cayman GTS had sports seats and they sat noticably lower

Mine going for its MOT this morning. It's now 7 years old. Passed with no problems. Only depressing thing is that they told me I'd only done about 120 miles this year....

Lowering the Folding Bucket Seats? Has anyone done this? Really struck me today how high they feel, having spent a few months in the 911. Any thoughts or ideas?

gt3 engine in a boxster/cayman is not happening. 400 bhp 3.8 my guess, or a 3.0t

Ah, OK I see what you mean - yes it can kick back and feel overly weighted - I had a problem with this at first; however as you say seating position is key - I found I was sitting too far forward and was getting a really stiff calf as I was working hard against the "spring".

I pushed my seat back (folding buckets too) so my knee was less bent - worked a treat - not had an issue since : maybe give this a try. smile
