Also the 718 Spyder will have a manuel roof unlike the part electric 981 which only takes a bit longer to put down than your GTS.
Hi AV - can you tell me more about the roof - the pictures I've seen looks like the same as the 981 to me ? Cheers Agree it looks the same though. Personally I would prefer part electric despite the slight weight penalty.

Evening Richard, I have heard this from several accurate sources also there was an article in one of the more informative rags some time back (can't remember which tbh) stating they really want to cut down the weight of the 718 Spyder so the part electric roof was to be dropped so to speak, in favour of 'manuel.'
Agree it looks the same though. Personally I would prefer part electric despite the slight weight penalty.
This is an interesting snippet of info..I suppose making the roof 100% manual to save some weight will go some way to offset he weight of the turbos.;)Agree it looks the same though. Personally I would prefer part electric despite the slight weight penalty.

They're all quite different choices.
Do you prefer open top motoring? I always think it's like having two cars if you have a soft top.
I had a GT4 and switched to a T, wanting the extra seats-is that a consideration?
I honestly enjoy driving it more, it takes a bit of "learning" to drive, which I like. I think GT3 aside it's perhaps the most 911 like of the 991 range.
I never really totally bonded with the GT4 despite the hype. The on rails like handling was a bit dull and created mad road speeds.Maybe it's just a tyre thing?! Imo it's not a daily- too much thinking about the front clearance.
Obviously the T is a turbo, if that matters to you? The base engine is supposedly the least laggy. I haven't heard it mentioned before but it's on down changes when the turbo bugs me the most, the revs don't drop just as quickly as a NA. Turbos still spooling I guess.
Go and drive them, they all have their plusses and minuses. For what it's worth l think the T looks best, it has a lovely classic clean Porsche look.

- I thought the spyder was an absolute sweet spot in the modern Porsche line up - absolutly loved mine.
You still sold it, so not a keeper like my older one. People tend not to sell great cars.
Agree - loved my 360 Spyder but it was time to try another great car. I’m on list for 718 Spyder - originally was on for GT4 but miss top down motoring. FWIW I hope they keep the manual roof - less costs if something goes wrong and less complicated to repair, moving parts etc. I plan on having the top down 95% of the time anyway😎

Just because I sold it doesn’t mean they aren’t great cars - they absolutly are

Some of you may have seen my GT4 thread, but are the Spyders similar in the way there's a waiting list, and only customers on the best terms with their dealership can get the keys to such a car? If there's more availability, I'd actually love a Spyder, but I'm barely on the radar of any Porsche dealership, other than one previous purchase.

Don’t you think they’ll make more Spyders this time - they sold out if the 981 - very different story to the first version - I think this drove the tiny 981 numbers - time will tell
I agree as the 981 Spyder was launched in the wake of the GT4's enormous shadow..IIRC 600 981 GT4s and 229 981 Spyders and this time round i foresee a much closer alignment in both RRP and build nos.w44neg said:

Same as a GT4 I’d say although quite a few people got GT4 allocations with little buying history/relationship towards the end of the run. If it’s naturally aspirated I personally think more people will want the Spyder....the only N/A soft top Porsche makes (apart from the Speedster) Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
