Did you buy the car from Porsche Bristol this year and if so thats my old car
I didn’t actually buy it from OPC Bristol but another OPC within the same dealer group, but yes believe it’s your car! You may notice I’ve changed out the rear lights for the tinted ones though. Weirdly, the guy who bought my previous Spyder is also a PHer (Taffy66); seems most Spyders are in the hands of enthusiasts now given the number of PH owners.

Dms said it’s a 3 yr package and the original map can go back on at any time by sending a tech to your house should the car need to go to opc. This is included in the price too for 3 yrs.

Might give it a go. There’s no doubt the car would benefit from an extra 30 HP. Plus warranty is safer as there are no tangible replace to components.

Edited to say:

I’ve since read the opc’s can easily now detect if a car has been mapped and taken back to standard. Remains are not recommended for warrantied cars. Anyone have and experience?
DMS figures are a joke always have been

try a Cobb access port, I doubt any one will know you have mapped it as it swaps the whole map not mods the org.

yes deep down it will say the cars had a ECU reset but so what my GT4 had about 3 ECU resets at my OPC for reasons of one thing or another.

so adding a hit for a ECU reset proves nothing. But I think Cobb now reset that counter now so not detectable.

I would not use any other way of mapping a GT4/Spyder.

I agree... As i eluded to in my previous post I'd be cautious about DMS - although that's without actually having used them myself. And some people are happy enough with the result via butt dyno rather that actual figures..which i guess is what matters most in the end.
Cobb AccessPort is the primary ECU tuning tool used on these cars - they have proven maps that will give a lift, that you can just do yourself, and if you want a custom map for your car it can do that also.

I just looked up the Ehresmaan Automotive pdf for GT4/Spyder upgrades, ECU wise he can supply a second ECU with the remap so your original remains untouched. Otherwise Cobb Access port seems a good choice.

So DMS figure for the remap could be possible, but there figure for the GTS (390hp) i just can't believe (60hp gain from a map)

A Spyder with 425hp/450nm + closer gearing would be mega!

Ive spoken to VIP Motorsport and he is finding out from COBB in Europe and the US if they are able to reset the counter / logger.
He is ex Porsche of 10 years and thinks it can't be done yet.

I'm waiting for him to get back to me. It all hinges on this really and if the counter on the ECU can't be reset, then I'm not risking it as I want the warranty.

Jen's is option of a second ECU might be an option then? I have put the screenshots above so easier to see. I'm out of warranty now and will most likely be leaving it that way.

So I'm looking at 1250 Euros plus VAT for self installation ? + 1650?

I think so mate, worth ping Jens an email, really helpful guy too. This where the Cobb Access port really works at £1000 and you can always upload different maps as you add tuning to the car. Then again no reason why you cannot do that with the new ECU. But for warranty swapping the ECU out might make sense?

Oh that includes the likes of BMC Air Filters, I may just get these and ask Porsche to fit them during my nest service rather than using standard filters. Induction roar is supposed to be awesome.

I think Litchfield are the Cobb UK resellers.

Jens don't use Cobb which is a shame.

Surprised the low mileage JZM 987 Spyder hasn't gone yet . Guess the time of year isn't helping ..

Right car right price will sell anytime of year IMO

No real surprises considering
State of economy today compared to past 7 years
Wrong side of Brexit looming large
Wrong side of a new leader/ PM even larger
Wrong side of a Corbyn car bashing tax raising government on stand by eek

The perfect storm is coming soon

I think that tunes delivered by an Accessport, whether custom or Cobb stock can be copied thus not protecting tuners' IP

I decided against a second ECU from Jens because there will be a discrepancy between operating hours and mileage. In the 3 years since my 3.8L install, I have done 24k miles so the original ECU would have around 600 fewer hours than the mileage would suggest.

Mess with the ECU and wave goodbye to the engine and powertrain warranty,,You can still improve breathing by using K&N filters and an exhaust bypass system,

As someone who picked up a 987 Spyder towards the end of this summer I can categorically state that that none of the above cross my mind whilst hunting for a car. But the JZM car is for putting in a Carcoon. I wanted a Spyder I could drive.

I have one too and it’s staying in my garage to drive when I want to.

This will be regardless of mileage or whatever.
