Boxster Spyder

17 degC in North East Scotland at the moment. It’s a chew to stop driving in order to take a photo, but it has to be done every now and again. The Spyder feels so right on these roads, turn in is fantastic and pace is way more than enough to keep you entertained.
It does leave me wondering just exactly what people do with circa 600 or even 700bhp? I can’t help feel it’s complete overkill.

Lovely picture, I was contemplating a £15K power upgrade, but decided not to..... It does leave me wondering just exactly what people do with circa 600 or even 700bhp? I can’t help feel it’s complete overkill.

I had the same thoughts while out in my Cayman R the other day.
Likewise. Already enough power to get into three figures in alarmingly (especially on smaller roads) short order. Easy to unstick the rear if desired. Never short of adrenalin when on a committed drive in my Spyder. More power always amusing of course, but then what? Fizzbomb said:

I will be buying a red PDK version soon to go with my manual version, wouldn’t mind buying this Aqua blue example also....Mayhem911 said:
It is not for sale at the moment, but may be available when the final spec of the new spyder is finally released, and if i am favoured in the allocation process .
Thank you for the reply, at the moment I have 2 Spyder 987s, I just want 2 more, I'm after some unusual spec/colours and i'm a private buyer.Lox said:

I still might turbo charge mine if I still own it by the end of the summer, around £15K cost. After a 3 week break in Australia I finally got back out in the Spyder early this morning.
Covered just over 100 miles with the roof down (heaters on full as a nippy 5 degrees!) and what an epic fast road car these are. Prefer it massively for fast road use than my old GT4 and find the more compliant suspension a revelation over the GT4. Brakes never fazed, soundtrack to die for and who doesn’t like roof down motoring.
Really really enjoyable car and we’re lucky to own them folks!

Hope you had a great time in Australia..Its a place i know quite well as i lived there for a while back in the late 1980s..
I also have a Carrera white 981 Spyder and arguably my favourite car of all i've ever owned..It shares a garage with a 991.2GT3 and 458 Italia and the most likely i'll keep very long term..I might swap it for a 718 Spyder but only if the spec and price are right, otherwise i won't bother.
I also much prefer it to my old GT4 for fun road use and i still don't really know why..My Spyder feels a bit quicker than the GT4 which could be down to slightly less weight and more mileage or simply a placebo effect because of not having a roof..
A future classic in the making IMO..

My 1st time in Australia but my wife lived there for 18 months before we met so after much nagging we had a family tour! Flew direct to Perth for 4 nights, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Cairns, Trinity Beach, Mission Beach, Airlie Beach, Whitsunday islands, outer reef diving and finished with 5 nights in Brisbane which we really enjoyed. Boys (8 and 10) loved it and I was bowled over and look forward to returning in a few years. Agree 100% on your Spyder comments and it’s a great package. I crave a 430 or 458 but often think I would never use it whilst the Spyder is most usable and goes under the radar so to speak. Might change the wheels to black at some point but undecided.....
