It’s how you use the engine, , I just sold my GTS and that makes power to red line , the GT3 don't, so even driving VERY fast my changes were about 76 in 2nd and 96 in 3rd.

On track the 9k limit gives you options as it don’t really loose power like the 991.1 so mid bend on track you can stay in the same gear and use the 9k if needed, but you don,t have to to hit max power or acceleration in this car. Changing at 8300 to 8500 drops you in a crazy power band. Only time I hit 9k on the road is an over take some times if I can get by without a shift.

In my 991.1 GTS you spin it to red line, but that was PDK so again lower ratio's anyway.
Great engine that but that had to go all the way to the limit, in fact you hit the limiter as it just wants to rev and make power.
The 981 gt4 doesn't make power all the way to the redline either....if you're changing at peak power like the gt3 then the speeds are going to be mid 70s in 2nd and below 100 in 3rd - exactly the same as how you say you drive your gt3.

Ultimately, yes the gt4 lacks some acceleration esp compared to the (considerably more powerful gt3) which shorter gearer undoubtedly would help and make the car possibly seem more exciting but the gearing thing is imo vastly overblown. Especially when you constantly sing the praises of the 987s and yet consider the mezger gt3s long geared.

Front splitter scrapes sometimes, but not the undertray. Front is a cheap-ish replaceable part so best not worry.

According to one dealer I am in touch with they won't see a single Spyder this year! There 2020 allocation numbers will be confirmed late Novembereek

The only thing you can be 100% sure of is that OPC’s will colour what they are saying based on who they are saying it to and why, In my case I’ve asked my OPC about a Spyder...answer has been “We’re only getting two which have been promised to people that missed out on the last one”....that’s probably true if we’re talking 2019 build slots because they are the only cars they know they are getting. But it’s a White Lie because they will definitely be gettting cars next year. Things have changed quite a lot at my OPC in the last year so they’re being very non--commital....new General Sales Manager and I don’t think everyone knows quite where they stand yet...

In your case they could be saying that because they know you want one and they don’t want to piss you off be saying someone else is getting their allocation first ?!

The only time you know an OPC is 100% telling the truth is when they get the order form out and confirm your allocation....sad but true,

For all Boxster Spyder 981 owners - Porsche have just issued a recall owing to an airbag fault. I was due to collect a Spyder tomorrow and I am now not allowed to until they have fixed the issue but the OPC have no idea how long it will take for the part to arrive. Complete mess.

That's a US website; car companies are much more motivated to recall cars in the US and things happen slower here

Yes it is and they've been great to deal with but very unfortunate timing for a recall. Bristol and West London OPC's have also sold Spyder's this week.

Assuming a white one??
If it's any consolation it's a really nice car which I had since new, nicely run in for you now.
Was loathed to sell it but just had to make room for something else, can see me getting another at some point.
Bummer on the airbag, but you don't want any issues with that.
Hope you get it sooner rather than later, and hope you enjoy it.

Well that's good to hear and if it's any consolation it'll be going to a good home. Are you interested at all in the new Spyder or GT4?

I am glad it's going to a good home.
New RS is next, a few months to wait unfortunately but think it should be worth it. The Spyder sounds louder than my previous RS.

Glad to hear about the 'loudness' - in truth that is the major reason for me buying it. Considered at GT3 but for road trips this seems to fit the bill. I'm going to track an RS next week - curious as to how they drive. Lucky you getting one.

Hope it doesn't affect my Spyder as I'm going on a European tour next Tuesday and could do without the airbag deploying at speed on the autobahn!

Can't see the re-call when entering the VIN here..... https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/vinrecalllooku...

Yep, it's a fab road car mate. And works on B roads nicely... You'll love it.

It might just be for the earlier 2015 iterations?
