Chaps, I’d appreciate opinions on this car please, https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Boxster-Spyder...
Comfort seats no climate and 4 owners are the negatives.

Looks a bit expensive too especially with Autumn here.

No.

As I said before on the GT4 thread, it's a business and if people want me to locate cars or broker deals it would cost £1k

The cheaper high spec cars sell fast. Or as I said on the other thread leave you name if looking with ashgoods, divine , Jzm etc.

People are lazy and want things on a plate hence we have dealers :-) I get loads of emails about prices and cars for sale.

I’d prefer buckets, but was surprised how low you sit in the electric seats. It does have new Mich PS4S which is a plus, the Lotus will be sold privately or SOR, if I decide to proceed so no pix.
hopefully get a test drive next week, looking for something slightly less focused than the Exige, but not too “ordinary”
I think that looks a really nice low mileage example. Also importantly it hasn’t got the horrid white internal dash , door , centre console trim. (Most do) I think that with a good fast road set up geo will work really well. smile
You mean this horrid white internal dash? And that horrid Peridot Green colour? smile

Sorry smile

FWIW - I love Peridot - very cool colour.

Wow okay. Let’s just say that when you make sweeping statements about price, give some evidence or keep quiet smile

Although the 4 owners include the first owner twice, does that count?

I viewed on Friday, and I have to say it was beautiful, went back on Saturday and drove it, got mixed emotions, steering was accurate but didn’t give much feedback, sounded great in sport+ with the Rev matching, but the gearing, I can’t imagine needing more than 2nd and 3rd when pushing on the road.
Does the 718 spyder steering feel similar?

If you're going for that logic, save another 20k (at least) and buy a 987 S...

Thinking about it, what is so special about the 987 Spyder compared to a well specced 987 S? I've never driven or looked at one so this is a genuine question. I get that it is a bit lighter, limited numbers, has some cool bodywork and a different roof. Otherwise, the mechanicals look very similar to me unless I'm missing something?

Buckets seats free
Spyder wheels, Porsche lightest 19" wheels design free.
GT3 alloy doors
bespoke body work.
bespoke roof
both of those Lower the CoG
Free LSD
passive dampers 20mm lower on custom spring rates.

a nice 987.2 S will cost you £27k low miles now days, a Spyder £40k so not £20k in it. And as most come with SS, sports modes and PSE, try finding A S with those 3 small options. let alone with Buckets, Spdyer wheels, LSD etc.

very cheap car atm imo. prob make more selling a 987.2 Spyder as parts these days.

Hmm, I didn't know they had alloy doors, and presumably the other 987's had steel? What's the overall weight saving though compared to an s? interesting, so much that I went off to briefly look at the classifieds - not many 987 Spyder's or S for sale it seems. 4 for sale in PH classifieds; 2 with buckets and all are over 40k. The Spyder is a very pretty car, no denying that, and as I'm posting on the Porsche forum I may as well dip a toe into the murky world of values as that seems a perennial favourite. Unless you value the body work and exclusivity very highly (nothing wrong with that IMO), I still can't see that it represents 20k over the most expensive 's' for sale (which it is), examples such as these random two

Seems like the best time to have bought one was some time ago, those that got them new and still have them got a real bargain. As with so many nice cars, the ship is sailing or has sailed. They look expensive compared to a good S to me, but perhaps as a long term prospect they're pretty safe assuming you can sell for near enough what you buy at. Not many manual 987 S's for sale on PH at the moment though. Slightly lighter wheels and an LSD (if you'd really notice it) on a road going S couldn't cost that much out of the 20k saved presumably if value vs performance and fun was what you were looking for.

why show a car with 83k miles !! Most Spyder have sub 20k miles ! a Spyder 8 years back was £40k they are £40k now, So no ships sailed !!!

Buckets seats are £7k, oem wheels £5k, LSD, £2k, PSE £4.5k, SS £800, sports mode £800, set of shocks £2k,etc etc etc.

As I said you can pay £30k for a low miles 987.2 S and they are also rare, or you can pay £35k for a migh miles Spyder.

If people were upset with the 981 steering and gearing, the 987.2 Spyder will excite you more, and offer that "rare" car ownership feel good factor.

The headline weight saving was 80KG but that was with no AC or PCM. You are not talking 80kg out of a 987.2 S that easy.

the winner was the bespoke shock setup and the lower CofG on the Spyder to drive along with that 80kg saving if you buy right.

you can buy this for £25k and some shocks and bucket seats I guess.

Just to add I can somewhat agree with 911R here..
5 weeks ago I Sold my 981 back to the OPC for 60k, it then sold in 2 weeks for an advertised 67k, highish spec but with comforts and classic interior, the same spyders are still for sale now that were for sale 2 months ago and these are all sub 68k cars.. one is now 63k with buckets. Still opc's are in a better position to sell cars than a private seller but these uncertain times make it incredibly difficult to shift a 60k car of which has a relatively small audience.

Any convertible will be an uphill struggle to sell as we go into October as they are clearly a seasonal car.

Spyder prices can change as much as 10% into winter likewise appreciate by as much at the first signs of Spring and warmer weather.

Going just by past 9 months of 2020 and what lies ahead I would say after a record run (in my lifetime) of ever increasing price rises for limited run and classic cars in general the bubble is about to "explode"

I hope I am completely wrong eek

its basic which upset people. you do see well priced cars, but they sell in 1 or 2 days, I was going to buy a car yesterday, now its gone, sold in a day !
I slept on it and lost it.

to sell 981's they need to have the spec and be under £64k atm and over 20k miles hurts these a bit.

Not sure time of year effects these cars as there are always buyers, look at CC site, it's easy to SELL cars (at the correct price), it's hard to buy cars.
(at the right price) people get it all backwards ..... and think it's hard to sell a car, if a cars not sold in 30 days it's too expensive.

the 981 GT4 market is the most stuborn atm even though 45 cars for sale and still rising, I keep saying a drop coming but some cars have been for sale 18 months !!! but once these (with a spec) drop to again the magic £64k it seems they sell £62k will have ot sold quick smart. Why some cars are £75k is odd !!, and that bloody viper ones been for sale all summer with 3 places, I love that car but at 29k miles it's £10k too expensive.

a few months back we were at 30 odd cars, it just going up week on week now to > 45 cars.

I do think 4.0L GTS slots will kill a lot of these models off to the tune of 10k come Winter. But to spec up a 4.0 GTS to my old GT4 spec is £3k more than I paid for my GT4 so not cheap cars now. the pick is still the 718 SPyder price wise and to keep your money in your pocket come sale time.
