That is what I was told as well. They also work on a just in time production method which is a nightmare when you have bespoke colour products coming down the production line.

I was told that vehicles with Exclusive Manufacktur such as personalised door sills, different colour dials etc. are produced with regular door sills and then go to a different part of the plant AFTER manufacture and are reworked.
Yep, exactly what I was told too yes

Nice
Well done on the PTS
How much is that option?
And which shade did you go for?
Thanks, I just said I was to wait as long as it takes to get PTS after being offered a Spyder build slot, so rather than October build it became Januar, I do feel very fortunate. It cost £6986 and the colour will be revealed in a few weeks.

That's the standard paint shop. On the factory tour I went on just over a year ago, I'm sure we were told that PTS cars are painted elsewhere.
I stand corrected then but in 2016 on my tour they never mentioned PTS cars like mine are painted elsewhere

I think I'd just stick with silver!

Wow PTS has jumped up in price but I think I would go for it if I could get an allocation. Congratulations again and I'm looking forward to seeing what colour you have gone for.

That’s the intention, although I do have some reservations after seeing cars that needed full re-sprays after old PPF had taken some of the paint work with it when it was removed

I have PPF on one of my cars, A PTS colour. I wish I hadn't to be honest, it cost about £3000 to put on and I've been told that it'll cost about £1000 to take off.

The PPF is currently 4 years old and looks great still (I mean you can't see it on the car...), Any repainting costs would be covered by the cost of it.

I have other cars that are original paint at 9 yrs old, and it looks great!

It's nice to follow other cars and know that stone chips won't normally mark the paint and I don't like repainting cars, but I think it makes more sense on black and dark cars where the stone chips can look like its been attacked by a blunderbuss

This also true.

My Macan 4 yrs old in Night blue needs a bit of paint attention on the bonnet now at 35,000 miles.
My C2s 9 yrs old in white looks perfect at 42,000 miles
My Defender at 7 yrs old and 35,000 miles is just rusting and needs loads of TLC........

Yeah PPF does feel a bit like the emperors new clothes

987 Spyder and tall people.
I've had a question regarding whether it is doable or not. 6"7 (2m) to be precise, carbon buckets also fitted. Anyone have any experience?

I'm 6"2 and I was ok. Think 6"7 might be uncomfortable tbh

I'm 6'6" and fit comfortably in my 987 Cayman R with buckets (buckets are essential - forget it with other seats).
But...my R is PDK, and the problem I always find in a manual transmission car as a tall driver is the left leg angle required to depress the clutch, and the need to avoid hitting the gear stick with my left leg/knee.
If of any relevance, I fit well in my manual 981 Spyder if driving in light shoes/plimsolls, but that's a slightly bigger car.

Warmed up this afternoon. Just needs a soak and wash.
Beautiful day. Great noise and still a bit of drama

Just got my spyder out oh hibernation, washed polished prepared and ready to go! Hopefully I will be allowed to drive somewhere soon without fear of being fined! I have had thoughts of selling on my one owner car, but not so sure now after a quick drive out! You only miss them when there gone!

Very true but the pre GPF sound track is sadly no longer obtainable so what better reason than that to not make it a keeper and today that scream was all the music needed to make me smilebiggrin

^ That’s a fair point and one that’s got me in a riddle since having a deposit on a 718 accepted. Build slot likely to be next year, but it’s got me thinking about going for a 981 in the meantime.... worst case being I could just hold onto it if it turns out to be a keeper.

Anyone with a 981 possibly looking to sell then feel free to ping me a pm!

Oh and unrelated but I’m sure shark blue is coming to the 718... by the looks of the one above (voodoo isn’t it?) then it’ll look cracking!

Sold mine last week, sorry. Other half insisted on a garage/drive rationalisation.

My 981 Spyder out of hibernation for its MOT on Friday - even that short drive was a joy. Everything crossed for a relaxation of lockdown rules so we can use them!
