Just taken the Spyder out of hibernation after the long winter though based on yesterdays weather not sure winter has quite finished with us yet. As a result of our not using the car a great deal thinking about selling, apart from Piston Heads where else would anyone recommend advertising. its a lovely car, only 10.7k miles and Im the 2nd owner. some will say Im a heathen as its PDK not manual but tbh I think the PDK is fantastic. It has extended leather, PSE, Sports Chrono, black Spyder wheels, carbon buckets is spotless and was ceramic coated by Paul Dalton of Miracle Detail
Drop me a line when convenient. I’m a private buyer who would be interested (sent you my details via PM).

Cat S means structural I believe. 15k in parts is a reasonable amount but could just be complete front including lights rads boot floor or tub etc. And obviously parts have to be genuine Porsche because pattern parts are not available anywhere.

My car repair estimate from insurance was quoted 17k or more so written off and given Cat S as rear wheel ripped off completely. Missing a wheel is Structural clearly. I got it driving again and MOT by fixing myself at home for less than 2000 but body not repaired yet.

So I'd guess Cat S on that Spyder must include some suspension damage but can still be repaired easily enough by bolting on replacements. I mentioned front tub as it could be classed as structural but not sure you'd get all that for 15k from Porsche and I guess they're including paint and everything. Depends if it was a frontal impact which I personally dislike as they look such a mess afterwards. Rotating and clipping a rear arch like mine hardly a big deal if you ask me and an easy repair. Full front remains in tact.

I’d be dubious of the validity of the Porsche warranty given the history. Also there’s no way the retail on that spec of car is over £94k.

So retail is £94k...or for a total outlay of £92k I can have one with a write off on its books for the rest of its days? Hmmm, let me think....

MOre to the point - why would an insurance company write off a £94k car that only required £15k to fix???

They‘ve spent 15k on it, not you would need to spend another 15k.

The insurance company has probably written it off because of the cost for an OPC to repair it. If you are buying the parts yourself and doing the work it will be much cheaper.

I wrote off a 996 turbo and was there with the OPC and loss adjuster as the car was assessed. Panel by panel CHF 5k, CHF 10k, CHF 15k…. Write off. A few weeks later I got a call off a guy who had bought it from the insurers asking if I had the hard top and if he could buy it off me. I later saw it on our equivalent of AT with a dogs dinner of a repair with a 997 front end. From memory I got a payout of CHF 88k and it was up for sale at around CHF 65k. Took forever to sell.

Yep - that's what I get for reading too fast when I should have been concentrating on work stuff.

looks a great car that for the older chap, xenons and leather are rare as hens teeth, so if you cannot get into buckets and want a modern classic for retirement it's quite a nice car that with very low owners.
I've not been on here much recently, but I always remember you as the Spyder man! Have you still got that beautiful white example? I am looking for something along that spec....

One wonders if they purposely had caps lock on to try help hide the Cat S part. I'd be cautious of any listing with that amount of typos in it....they can't even spell Porsche right.

That’s odd. No response from 911r. Looks like he’s not been here for as long as I haven’t? Is he ok?

Yes, really. I think he caused a stir in the 992 GT3 thread somehow(?) then used a secondary account to keep posting for a short time which won't have helped.
