I bought my 06 Cayman S in August 2012 - I bought it privatley for a good price, this was mainly due to it needing a few bits and bobs sorting like discs and pads, tyres etc....nothing major.

So, 14mths on I'm starting to get itchy feet again about changing it. Nothing wrong with it just getting that itchy feeling (i'm sure you know what I mean)

So, my question, what to get? My budget is always about £22k, I just can't find a car that would interest or be a good step on from the 987?

Welcome to the dilemma club!

I have this exact same issue. I've had my 987S since August 10 and i just cannot for the life of me decide what to swap it for. I keep taxing and reinsuring saying this will be last time i do it on this car but i cant give it up.

I had a 981S for a day thinking i'd like to step up, but it was PDK, and i didnt like the car because of that fact. Also it just didnt seem that much more of a step up from what i have now. Maybe i should drive a 981S manual and then decide but for the money i cant see it being that much of a step up...

I see these as options, it just depends how much you want to spend:

40 - 45k:

996 GT3 (the current favourite but would need a normal car as well)
Audi R8

30 - 40k

Nissan GTR
997C2S
997C4S

20 - 30k

997C2S
997C4S

10 - 20k

Yep - my budget is up to about 30k.

Thinking gen 2 987S - but are they worth the extra, will have to throw another £8 - 9k on mine to get one. Would this be a good idea? Are they £8k better than the gen 1???

Then I go down the new 'main stream' route, so thats' a Golf mk7 GTi (Performance pack), M135i (ugly thing).

Second hand route would be RS4, M3 but for some reason these just don't excite me!

Bloody cars!! smile
