Hey guys, hoping somebody could help out me here or offer some recommendations.

I have a 56 plate 987, it only has 27k on it, recently shifting into third gear makes a really nasty crunching sound. Double clutching helps but I tend to just skip third completely now.

I'd like to get the car serviced too, I'm from Cardiff and have heard good things about both the Porsche Centre and a guys called Chris Denning? Although I'm not sure where I'm going to get a more detailed inspection seeing my problem above, read many horror stories before signing up to post.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sounds as if you have a synchro worn.

I haven't personally used Chris Denning but have only heard very good feedback about him. In fact if I lived closer to Cardiff I would certainly entrust him with mine.

For a gearbox rebuild with some mods to improve it get the 'box sent to Sports & Classic - a lot of Porsche specialists send theirs there and maybe an OPC or two on the quiet. Hartech can do the same job properly too.
