Thanks for that, so it is just as simple as unplug that conector and your PSE stays on the loud setting

As simple as that.
10 minutes max, including getting to the engine and putting everything back together again.

Zyp I can hear my exhaust note change at idle when I press the button, so what does disconnecting the solenoid do?

I did the same on a previous BMW, but that system was always on and would open a butterfly at 3k rpm.

Unplugging the solenoid means your button is redundant (will still light up when pressed), and the exhaust valves are always open.

Unplugging also stops the exhaust from muting at 30-40mph (this happens even when the valves are open - a TUV requirement for noise in Grrmany I believe) so you get the lovely noise all the time.

Try it - like I said, it's only 10 mins and if you don't like it just plug it back in.

DS240 on here has a remote plug in from Carnewal, whereby you connect to the solenoid and control the valves via a remote fob - this also delete the 30-40 muting.

It really is a simple job, I totally agree.

I was worried about fiddling with things, but simply disconnecting the plug is a very easy solution.

It was mentioned that operating the valves occasionally was necessary so I got the remote control from carnewal.

Great product. Same benefits as simply unplugging but just means you can still choose whether it is on or off with a button and not require access to the engine bay.

All still works, good product.

Sports exhaust is also the best option I could have ticked on the spyder. Way too quiet without.

I liked the off/on button, but unplugged mine because of the stupid 30-40 valve closes back on you issue.

even if you rev the car in sports mode the valve closes back on you, so just best to unplug the bloody thing.

just annoying on the motorway if you want to do 200 miles and the exhaust is open all the time.

hence the "remote control from carnewal" would be handy for motorway miles.

I drove from Notts to Abersoch in North Wales and back, unplugged and roof off all the way.

The exhaust noise was no problem whatsoever. (and sounded awesome through the Conway Tunnel!)

Possibly with the roof on for that distance it may be an issue.

I had the engine hatch off the other day and rerouted one of the vacuum lines to the solenoid. Should have unplugged it then! Will have a play when I tax the car next month. Thanks all.

In the boot behind the seats.

I think its easier to get to in the Spyder than a Cayman or normal Boxster.

OEM PSE(can keep warranty) or take off non P exhaust and put back original at time of sale.
