its not that easy to get to all 6 do if you are going to take them out you may as well fit new ones.
I agree with this, for the sake of the price of new plugs.

Same position - booked the OPC Reading (as its on the way to work - always used Guildford in the past) for service & brake fluid, about £760 I think. Spark plugs were recommended at £300 extra based on age not mileage.
I havent got round to speaking to indies for whether its a big saving on 6 plugs elsewhere but worth a thought.
Getting the free MOT as mentioned in a previous post while there which is a nice addition.
Main thing is its ready for summer and can come out of the garage smile

The plugs are good for many more miles than most people do in a Spyder in 4 years. I understand the issue is to do with them getting sealed in the seating, which stinks of them not being fitted "properly" in the first place. A lot of indies use some sort of sealant/grease/lubricant to ensure that theirs will still come out after many more than 4 years.
i found it easier to get the plugs out on a warm engine rather than a cold engine and to seat them properly smear engine oil around the thread, hand tighten then spanner tighten a quarter turn

Thanks for ref to Event Tyres EJH. They are indeed £30 per tyre cheaper than OPC but as I have already ordered tyres from OPC I feel I ought to stick with them. Will bear in mind for future though!

Cheers

If you are between Guildford and Reading try Eporsch in Bisley. I can't help but wince at that sort of service cost for what you get.

I have always asked for a discount when I book the service for my Cayman S - have had all the recommended procedures down on schedule and have paid a maximum of £620, which was for the major with plugs and brake fluid. (though that was 4 years ago). The minors have been a fair bit less.

I use the OPC I bought the car from new, which may help.

Thought this might be of interest to anyone looking to Service their Porsche over the summer.

I have just booked the car in for the major service, oil, spark plugs etc and retro fitting cruise with Porsche West Byfleet. They have agreed a price with me of £1500.

As I said in my original post, Porsche of Reading quoted £1729 and would not budge from this price. They did however ring back after I had booked the car in with West Byfleet to offer a price match with a written quote from another OPC.

Will post after I have the service done at West Byfleet next month.

Thank you to everyone for the help with my questions.

But that is £60 for two tyres. Opc wouldn't care less.

BTW, half of my cars that I have owned over the years had cruise control. I can't say that I used it often and would miss it if my next car did have it fitted. Fair enough if the OP was a sales rep using a 3 series but I doubt it if it is for a Spyder.

I use cruise all the time, especially on the motorway. For me it helps me keep my speed regulated and stops me going down the motorway at 80+ mph. Though on the Spyder I would only use it on the motorway or fast dual carriageways.

I always found cruise useful for roadworks on the motorway with average speed cameras. Set it at the start and you don't have to worry about watching your speedo.

Hello chaps. Just a quick question on the back of all this chat about cruise control....I have a gebn 1 Cayman S design Edition 1. It has a speed limiter but not, unless I am being a complete numptie and cannot find it, a cruise control. I have scanned the manual in a cursory way, as men do...but it seems odd to have a speed limiter but not cruise. I must say that the idea of setting a speed for motorway driving is something I have used often on other cars I have had, or currently own. It saves many speeding points I think!

Thanks for any replies.
