Without having to trawl 365 pages and mistaken arguments, is the Electric steering on the 981 a real bummer compared to the Hydro on the 987 R please ?
Be interesting if anyone here has followed one with the other.
It depends on what you value in a car.Be interesting if anyone here has followed one with the other.
In my opinion, I think the steering in the 981 is awful compared to previous Porsches. Of course, if you are a mediocre driver you probably you won't care, in which case go buy a Ford Focus for a fraction of the price.
Your mileage may vary.
I've owned both the R and the 981 GTS on passive dampers. I can understand why people make the comments they do on the steering but I couldn't say it was a show stopper for the 981. Similarly, I didn't think the 718 moves the game on as much as others think it does. Beyond a certain level, improvement on steering feel is relatively low on the priority list for me.

Agreed. Last (short) drive in mine tomorrow - I'm gonna miss it!
I miss mine too. Great sports car. Enjoyed as much as my Ferrari for different reasons. Traded my GTS in for a 718 Spyder. After 3 convertible sports cars and a couple of coupes over the years I discovered I’m a Spyder man after all . Prestonese said:

Actually, I think first class steering should be a priority on any sports car - it’s the primary connection between the driver and chassis. But I have no particular issues with the 981GTS, (compared to the 991 Touring and air cooled 911s, which I also drive).
It’s more to do with the overall character of the car and intended usage. As a road car it’s fine.
Having started this thread 5 odd years ago I can honestly say that my car has been an absolute joy to drive and own. I to am selling mine as I recently learned I have been allocated a 718 GT4. I will advertise mine privately so the buyer saves money and I better the OPC trade in/sor offer.
No car if perfect but the 981 (and hopefully the GT4) has to be close to the top of the list as a great road sports car.
