Well Porsche called and basically said I can't test drive the car unless I put a deposit on it as it's fully prep'd in their showroom, I might not even like PDK, and the manual Boxster S has sold so no back to back test. I kind of understand.
I've seen a Boxster GTS I like the look of and I know I used to enjoy top down driving, had VX220s and 360 Spider, but for 5 years I've just had coupes. It's a weekend car more so and a now and again but the UK weather is not always good at all, so I thought a Cayman would be better.
So thinking this dealer has a Cayman GTS & Boxster GTS, if they let me drive them back to back then I'll know if I prefer the top down or not bothered about it.
But I could just drive with the window down in the Cayman, just as much fun and noise?
First world problems.

Just a quick aside as I'm sure some here have had it done - has anyone retrofitted the switch to turn the passenger airbag off? How much did it cost? Asked OPC today and they wanted £396!
I had it done, but it has to be the full Isofix kit, so is fixings on passenger seat, airbag switch and warning in overhead console (new console needed) - IRRC it came to about £800 but I paid a lot less as it was admitted I should have been advised to option it on my new car - I thought that the car would have the airbag switch just like all my cars have had for many years now, but Porsche do it differently.. The OPC were good about it though and so were Porsche GB together they brought the price right down so I was happy.JayK12 said:

I drove a Cayman GTS before ordering my Boxster, never actually drove a BGTS until a few weeks later at PEC. Dynamically, I could not tell any difference. Handling etc is far more affected by what suspension choice you make, whether you've pushed the sport button or not, what tyres you have on and what pressure they're at, geo etc etc. Power - I think you'd very hard pushed to notice the difference, I didn't, especially when you consider that a few well/badly chosen options will change the weight to negate any advantage/disadvantage in power. My only concern would be that with a roof there is more to go wrong, but if you're buying from an OPC with warranty you should be fine. I've also heard that with Boxsters the engine is quieter with the roof up than in a Cayman, but louder with the roof down than in a Cayman, which may be something you like the idea of or not.
Honestly, I'm sure I'd be more than happy with a Cayman GTS I suspect, but like you I really enjoy roof down motoring. It would irk me though if I had to pay more for the equivalent Cayman GTS than Boxster, especially given the new 718 price structure!

Thanks mate, dealer has come back with confirmation i can drive them back to back, Boxster GTS manual and Cayman GTS PDK. We can then decide what combination we prefer, and if we like the Boxster over the Cayman we will most likely buy it. However i am going to see a Gallardo on the way too.......I drove a Cayman GTS before ordering my Boxster, never actually drove a BGTS until a few weeks later at PEC. I quite fancy a Gallardo at some point and so does my other half, but I really struggle with the dull interior In the meantime I'm getting my V10 and shonky gearbox fix from an M5 Mario149 said:

Its a tough choice, Porsches are new, latest tech, Gallardo is 12 years old 40K on the clock, is a manual though. Same price. But i think id want the facelift in the future. The misses doesn't feel like she would drive the Gallardo, but we will see tomorrow. JayK12 said:

Nice spec and very low miles too. I particularly like the X73 suspension and carcon trim pack. Wouldn't be my choice of colour but it you like it, that's all that matters.
I think its pretty much what it would have cost new if i have calculated it correctly, will i get much of deal on it?JayK12 said:
Looks quite nice Pros and cons for me:+tives
GTS pack
Interesting colour combo (i.e. not the usual black/red/plain silver with a black roof)
Carrera Classic wheels (second lightest 20" ones available and they hide brake dust fantastically)
Front and rear parking sensors
Sport design steering wheel
Telephone prep
-tives
Only air con, not auto climate control
X73 so not adjustable like PASM
Given it's quite a "drivers" spec car with manual and X73 I think bucket seats would have been nice
ETA: it also lacks PTV (LSD and torque vectoring), again strange given it's a manual with X73
ETA2: no dimming mirrors

Options I wouldn't bother with again would be:
Bose
Light Design Package
PDLS+ (possibly, haven't had a winter in the car out in the countryside yet)
If there is a next time I'd probably have instead:
Radar guided cruise
Folding mirrors (possibly)

1) if it's a late 2015 buckets weren't available - they weren't for my 2016 car. The Spyders/GT4s and GT3s nabbed them all.ETA: it also lacks PTV (LSD and torque vectoring), again strange given it's a manual with X73

2) no dimming mirrors = therefore no auto wipers
