So you've had a different 981 every 3 weeks or so for the last 4 years....?
What's the reasons for that? Is it not an admin nightmare registering/transferring/taxing/insuring etc?? Do you ever even discover/bond with any of the cars in such a short timeframe?
Sounds a little bit crazy!
To be honest, that is a correct description of events. I remember owning one example for 4 days and one for 4 months, the rest anywhere in between, I think I had a few which I didn't wanted to let go off, especially the 'PTS' or very high spec ones...What's the reasons for that? Have to say I really don't get this. I can understand getting trough 3 or 4 to find your perfect spec, but not 70-odd. 981s are good, but they're not that good. Assuming an average change cost of £3K (which frankly is going to be on the very low side) , you've spent £200K+ owning 981s in four years, and that excludes the purchase price of the one you may happen to own at any given point. Something doesn't add up. You'd have to be very, very wealthy to blow that kind of cash and not care, and I don't know any wealthy people who'd be that profligate, most would find a more sensible way to drop £200K on a motoring toy. There's got to be another side to this Fizzbomb?
There simply isn't any other reason. Over the course of 4 years, I have spent around £25-26K on servicing and tyres and a few other bits. What is more, I sold nearly 75% of them back to various dealerships (Porsche and specialist), the rest privately and I have lost a great deal of money, that is simply it.Fizzbomb said:

One thing for sure, I won't be doing this again.
Wow what a history!you did not get any PTS one?! If u r in for another Gts pdk, u will tend to have all the spec u had on your previous cars! Good luck with the search!!
I can understand why u are bored now, but that is why I buy only very highly specced car with a main focus as I cannot afford changing car often. Cruising with the 4s conv, more track focused on the Gts! It takes time and hell lots of monney but worth it!!
One of ur ex reminds me of my 4S

Again WHY?

Appreciate your replies Fizzbomb, but I still don't understand the WHY??

Firstly, to clear it from the outset, it wasn't for profit as 75% of my cars sold to dealers, but in estimate I lost £90-£95K. Furthermore, after having 6 Cayman R all at once, I then latched onto the 981 and wanted to buy as many different optioned cars, and I did.Have you really lost approx 200k or more through this process? Again, probably, I'm not the only one that may have done such, I have only revealed it now, so maybe there are other people out there that have done similar to me and may come forward.Have you really lost approx 200k or more through this process? Again WHY?

Sorry Mr Fizzbomb, but I just don't get it. Why would you buy 6 Cayman Rs and keep all of them or for that matter, multiple examples of any modern car ?
It's your money to spend how you like, but it just doesn't make sense to me.
If I were you I'd have one great 981 - GTS or GT4 and some serious classic metal.

I love that
There's a manual 981 GTS with that interior at Notts OPC (I think), which seems to have hung around a while. Maybe people put off by the interior? Might need a really cheeky offer to take it off their hands...
Yes, I know about that particular example, I knew the owner, I actually like espresso so much. There's a manual 981 GTS with that interior at Notts OPC (I think), which seems to have hung around a while.
