Porsches tracks: http://www.porsche.com/silverstone/en/experience/h...
I've been there a few times. Most recent one was a couple of years or so ago for my BGTS half day experience which incidentally sealed the deal for me for the PDK over manual. Also took my 997 GT3 I had at the time and spent a lot of time on the low friction circuit....MASSIVE fun drifting it

I didn't realise you were allowed to take your own cars on the circuits! I've been there a few times. that's very helpful thanks.
i've been trying to get my 'free' PEC day organised and was going to just leave it but looks like it's a worthwhile experience. will be in a 718 not a 981 but at least i can explore the car a bit.
new to sports cars and would like to get into some light tracking and have a bit of fun in the car. what's the next step after PEC?

Looks like you're right. So my plans for a straightforward brake and engine upgrade sound like they're really not worth the bother!
Have you considered the upgraded intake plenum? Regarding brakes could you not upgrade the fronts to the 991 items and leave the rears or would it spoil the balance?

I also have a full set of Zunsport grills fitted, obviously not a problem warranty wise...
I think that's OPC dependent and whether they'd essentially ignore them as part of the 111 check. Mine said they'd have to come off to pass.I might check with Porsche GB directly to see if they are "allowed" when the time comes.

If you ask PCGB they'll give you the 'official line', which is no - the car mustn't have unapproved aftermarket parts fitted. However, if you have a good relationship with your OPC, then most will be fine about them - although they can't retail Porsche Approved cars with them fitted. It's only recently that PCGB have permitted PPF.I might check with Porsche GB directly to see if they are "allowed" when the time comes.
Spec is a very subjective thing, you'll get a million answers!
That being said, i have a manual, and wouldn't have it any other way, unless perhaps I was living in the middle of London or another big city. If that was the case, and it was never likely to go on track i'd consider the pdk.
Thank God I don't mind!

My mate had a 986S many years ago and I found the clutch so high it was horrendous. Put me off manuals from Porsche for w very long time. But I must say that the clutch in my CGTS couldn’t be further from the older ones. The only thing I will say is that I got out of a manual 2015 S£ saloon where the clutch was light as a cloud, so the 981 seemed VERY heavy by comparison. I’m used to it now, but when others drive it it often gets commented on for being heavy.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was a specific limitation of the intake system of the Cayster due to it being mi-engined. I have a feeling that even Ehresmann's packages have the dip.
Looks like you're right. So my plans for a straightforward brake and engine upgrade sound like they're really not worth the bother! I almost let the car go this week had a few good bids, I was going to just go and get a cheap 2.7 or 3.4 981 and modify/tinker about with it. But when it comes down to it, I'll end up spending loads and loosing loads of cash again, and the way I am once im finished i'll want something else. So looking around there's nothing i really want apart form a Spyder or GT4 but obviously thats 30K more than the GTS which i am not prepared to pay right now.
So the GTS is staying.....maybe for ever at this rate lol

I felt the same...and then heart took over mind and wallet! If you can magically rustle up the funds for a GT4 you really won't regret it. I was preparing to spend big money on a potential engine swap for my GTS but thought i'd also want a manual transmission to give the car a better feel so ended up just forking out the extra for a gt4 in the right spec.So the GTS is staying.....maybe for ever at this rate lol
Trouble with the GTS is after you've been in a GT4 you realise its not just the extra power or transmission. It's the suspension, bigger brakes, wider tyres, bigger aero and different exhaust note that all add up to make it that bit...well...more engaging. You'd have to spend more that £30k to get all that done to a GTS I feel.

7000 Euros for 380hp conversion is the rough quote i got from Jens. Whilst 380 would really make the car,, its alot of cash and normally you dont get back your money on modifications so i never went through with it.
What was included? Stage 1:
ECU Mapping, BMC airfilter, customerflasher > 1850 € > ~ 350 PS
Stage 2:
Like stage 1. Plus Exhaust manifold with 200 cell cat‘s > 4999 € > ~ 360 PS
Stage 3:
Like stage 2. Plus larger intake manifold, throttle body, full exhaust system > starting from 8990 € > ~ 375 PS
