Requested mine to be changed at 5K miles and 2 years old, was rejected. Requested it at 9.5K miles and 3 years old and they agreed to replace them.
Thank you JayK, I'll wait a little while, although I've pummelled the miles it's only just turned two.

The 410 has better and lighter steering and whole car feels lighter (it isn't actually), more agile and engaging. i personally found the 410 a bit too nervous down a (very) bumpy road - though no issue at Motorway speeds. Rear visibily is all but non-existent on the 410 and that alone would make me go for the 400 which also has a softer ride (though the 410 is OK) and a somewhat less nervous setup (I'm told).

I personally prefer the power characteristics of the Evora engine - the torque curve is more progressive and it still revs very eagerly to the red line. The Cayman sounds a bit better (imo) but the Evora still sounds pretty good. Likewise the (manual) gearbox may not be quite as nice as the Caymans - but it is still very pleasant to use and very easy to H&T (best in Sport mode). I didn't try an auto. The gearing is very long - similar to the manual Cayman, but wasn't quite such an issue to me because of the more progressive power characteristics. On paper it ought to be faster than the Cayman - but honestly didn't feel much different to my PDK Cayman S - perhaps because of the gearing.

There doesn't seem to be anything like as much road noise on coarse surfaces in the Evora - a big bonus if you do a lot of motorway miles.

The option of two back seats with Isofix might be attractive if you need to carry small children.

If you are into bling and infotainment and want to personalise your car, the interior of the Evora may disappoint. For me it's fine Economy will take a hit - I'd guess the Evora will be around 5mpg worse. The Evora boot is much smaller - but the space behind the seats probably evens things up - even if it is more difficult to access.

Overall I'd say they were pretty evenly matched on every day practicality, but for me the Evora steering, handling and engine (perhaps surprisingly) tip the balance in the Evora's favour. on new prices the Cayman would have had the advantage but secondhand the 400 (though perhaps not the 410) is a similar price to the GTS.

Great summary mate.

I’ve test driven the range. Exige 350. Evora 400. Evora 410 sport. I ended up going for the Evora 410 Auto as I love the looks (all the carbon fibre), love the theatre of it (bucket seats, 5mm lower than standard Evora, 70kg lighter, minimal interior, all alcantara), love the rarity factor and love the sound. It’s louder than the Cayman and both 400 & 410 are banned from UK tracks unless the exhaust is modified. I went Auto as I live in London and felt I’d get frustrated not using the manual box as intended. Whilst the Auto is not dual clutch, i found it works very well with the engine and great for my needs.

Not taking anything away from the GTS. It’s a great car as it can be used as a daily or a weekend toy. However the 410 is a completely different car. More raw, immersive and focused than the GTS. A different type of weekend toy let’s say smile

Now if I lived out in the sticks, I’d have bought the Exige 350. Best thing I’ve driven on UK roads by far but its low clearance and requirements to open doors fully to get in & out would have made me cry all day everyday!

I'm a little surprised about the word "raw" - was surprised myself that the Evora was every bit as civilised as my Cayman and better in some areas. As you say noise is an issue on track - but that is because, even with the sports exhaust "off" the flap still opens at 4500. Lotus are not alone in producing cars which owners might wish to track which are too noisy for some tracks - and don't offer a track legal exhaust.

I’d say so buddy. The 410s aerodynamics, stiffer suspension, lowered ride height, stripped out interior, ultra light carbon seats & communicative steering makes the entire experience more raw vs the cayman, and an angrier, more twitchy sibling of the 400.

Thanks for that, mine are worse at two years old, but drove it right through the winter on Scottish salty roads, I’ll ask them what they think next time I’m over smile

I was tempted by both the exige s3 and evora but know that getting in and out inside a single garage would be very tricky. They are still up there on my list of cars to drive/own and I can well imagine they feel more raw v the Cayman. I'm astounded by how civilised it is at normal speeds in comparison to my last 997.1s. No bad thing for me as it's a touring holiday car and I've got my e36 m3 fast road/track car if I want a reminder of what 'raw' feels like. That said the whole package of the Cayman is right there for me. Downshifting into 2nd for overtakes and the sound of the exhaust is very impressive.

This is key IMHO. The Cayman GTS is certainly more Grand Tourer than stripped out race track refugee, especially with sports seats and PASM rather than X73 shocks and buckets. This is what makes it such an excellent road car, one I feel I can just get in a drive all day. Yes it looses out a bit on feel and drama compared to other cars, but it wins in other areas - the compliance on 20" wheels is stunning, the alcantara interior feels very special and the noise on the overrun is intoxicating. Handling and speed are more than good enough for the road, if you had more of both you couldn't use them anyway!

As a slight aside, with the advent of GPF filters and lower noise levels on new cars the 981 GTS may go down as one of the best sounding road cars of all time....
