Just needed to replace my rears, fronts sill have 5mm. I had a spare set of Pzero's in the garage so have put them on for now, Then next year I'll replace all 4 for PS4S or Cup2.
next year you will have a GT4 :-)

I think I have sussed you time, you have tyre warmers set to on ? :-) as your tyres are always green mine are always blue....
If i can find the cash!

Yeah I have blankets out and then come out and hit it hard to keep the heat in them. Offside tyres still get cool due to the clockwise circuit. You giving it another go?

PS4Ss are not rated for the 981, only Goodyear Eagle F1s or Pirelli P-Zero N0s or N1s. See the PDF file here:

https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/p...

Might be worth checking with an OPC or the Porsche warranty people in case the document is out of date and PS4Ss are actually approved.

I'd say the document is out of date surely.

Ummm, I'm in the same boat with my 981 Cayman GTS

P Zero N0 all round. Rears are at 2.5mm and fronts at least 5mm.

I did not enjoy the P Zeros during the winter months but during two big Euro trips in May and July they were fine.

The Pirelli UK factory is 10 mins away from me so their Performance Centre is dead convenient.

I have a Porsche Warranty until Apr 2020 so will be sticking with N rated tyres. I still can't work out if the N rated PS4S are suitable for the 981 or just the 718?

Two new rear P Zeros (with the PCGB discount) is the easiest option? Not the popular vote I guess though...

Rich
I was in the same boat and put two Pirellis on the rear, to wear simultaneously with the fronts....so four Michelins next time.

The Pirellis are fine in the summer, so I don’t feel i’m missing out too much.....but I do look forward to the better tyres/new-car feel when they come.

Not sure that's correct at all.

I had PS4S (N-Rated) supplied and fitted by my OPC, while my car was in for its 111-point check and warranty extension.

Anyone after a manual car there is one likely on the way into Porsche Bristol. Red, with PCCB, Burmester PTV 2014. Contact Michael Bryant. They just offered it to me but I've sourced a car now.

that sounds like my old car - I'd be tempted to buy it back actually! Do you have more details?

if so are they any different to the non N rated in terms of cornering performance/performance in the wet?

No. Michael sold me my last Porsche and was on the look out for a 981 GTS for me. He called me yesterday and I spoke to him this morning. They are negotiating a px with the current owner. Best give him a bell and tell him Jonathan passed it on. IVe bought a 2016 Agate manual in July. Red was my number one colour choice too but beggars can't be choosers with so few manual cars on the market.

Michael just called me to say it looks like this 981 GTs manual, won't be coming into stock now as the deal has broken down. He said there'd been a few calls this morning off the back of my post so apologies for any disappointment. He did say he'd update if the situation changes.

Just been out in the GTS, playing with Chrono, didn't realise it keeps the max G force lol.

If using Chrono on track, once you have a reference lap will it automatically carry on counting laps or would you have to manually press round?

Had a quick google, plus what i remember of usage of Sport Chrono lap timer - you have to manually press the stalk to count a lap... not automatic.

On a Porsche experience day the 718 pulled 1.2 g on launch control and 1.4 when stopping

That's just on road, I'll see the difference on track.

You don't need chrono (or GTS) to record G force - it comes with the standard car

the G meter and gear change light are part of Chrono in other models.
seen 1.5 in the GT4 and 1.68 in a GT3.

I thought all that was part of Chrono too, maybe I am wrong but never used G meter, change assist or lap timer before. Will be at Donny though.

Absolutely sure
My 981S no chrono.

It's one of the optional data in Car settings. I would stress that the car was stopped at the time. It's on of those things that I looked at once or twice when I bought the car - but haven't in the last 3 years - I only selected the option for the photo.
