Hi all,

Very very happy with my recent purchase as some of you may know, however there has been a minor niggle that I'm hoping someone may be able to assist with......

Shortly after picking up the car I noticed what appeared to be some wind noise from the drivers side window. I reported the issue to my dealer who after extensive test driving suggested that the door seal so be replaced.

The door seal has been done, but the noise is still there. Having driven the car around with the window open due to the good weather it has become apparent that the 'whistle' is indeed coming from somewhere else, but is loud enough to still hear when the window is closed....

My first thought is it could be the door mirror, but apparently this was removed to check when the car was being test driven.

Does anyone one have any experience with anything similar?? It is quite annoying to be honest and I just want to get it sorted now!

I know the tech has done this, but i'm going to have a go at taping a few of the bits up to see if I can isolate it. My ear is clearly tuned in to it!

Any help would be very welcome!

Thanks,

Nick

Can't hear any rattles, squeaks or whistles in mine, above the roar from the rear tyres wink

My car is less of a rattler than my old GT3 - must be the suspension?

No rattles, just a whistle with window up or down. Nothing to do with the suspension. :-)

Got to be a process of elimination. Tape up all gaps in / around the mirror. Go for a drive. If noise persists then it's probably not the mirror. If the noise has stopped, remove tape a section at a time until the noise comes back. Tell dealer where the problem is and get them to fix it. Sorted.

You can hear wind noise above the tyre roar! You hearing must be better than mine.

I'm very happy with my new CS except for the tyre roar on poor road surfaces... Good luck find the source of your whistle.

Could it be from around the fuel filler cap? Worth taping up to see if it makes any difference....

Good luck things like that drive me nuts too!

I had something similar on my VW Scirocco and this door seal treatment fixed it - http://www.melkus-shop.de/epages/61196926.sf/de_AT... - you can order it from any BMW dealer, spray a little bit of sponge and wipe it around all the seals...it's worth a go.

I have some of that. Good product and easy to apply.
