Was looking at 991s, but this came along!

Right here is where we are.
To get a half decent spec'd 991 S at the moment with PDK (which I def want) and not Bright Yellow or Guards Red, means spending at least £70k. This will be at least 2 years old and have over 10k on the clock.
For at least 10k less I can have a nearly new, or new Cayman S with plenty of toys.
I have had plenty of cars (check my profile) and whilst money no object I would have the 991s, I just cant see the justification in the extra when I don't have kids and dont need the rear seats.
I think 987 Cayman versus 997 911, the 911 was the far better looking car. It is all subjective but I think the 981 Cayman looks fab, and although the rear of the 991 shades it, I prefer the side profile.
It is all of course personal preference, but I have first dibs on a massive spec Cayman S which I will probably do the deal on on Monday. I fully appreciate some of the 991 owners will think I am mad, but for my circumstances and planning to do a few track days and not needing the rear seats, it works for me.
I take the point on the interior, the 991 feeling a higher grade; the nice thing about the car I have found is it has the full leather to dash and doors which makes a big difference...
It has also only done 900 miles, and has 2.5 years of warranty remaining
Nice bonus is someone took the hit and put 5k of PCCBs on it, so easier wheel cleaning for me

I started off looking at 991s. For a lightly spec'd, 2 year old car with 15-10k on the clock you are looking at 70k.
I dont need the rear seats, so for me, a fully loaded Cayman S PDK for over 10k less that has done only 900 miles and has 2.5 years of warranty was the better car.
I've owned a 997s, a 987 Boxtser S, and a 987 Cayman S, and I think for me, not having kids, and planning to do a couple of track days, the Cayman represents better value.

I think the new Cayman looks better than the new 991. Not talking about the GT3, that is stunning but a standard 991 looks a bit tame. I think the Cayman looks fantastic. And having driven the 981 Boxster S I can attest that performance wise it's very capable. I don't think any of the reasons not to buy one instead of a 911 still apply from before. the new Cayman has matured and looks better than it's dad!

Yep, they are excellent value and remarkably capable- spanked mine over three alpine passes today and can't think of a better car for it. The suspension capability to deal with anything and everything is something else. PDK really makes sense when pushing v hard so if you're planning a few track days it'll be just the job. Funny, I sold my 991S in Sep last year. Was a Dec 2011 with 10k miles, fully but fully loaded spec (inc ventilated seats). Aqua Blue + black leather. I found the colour astonishing. I dont need the rear seats, so for me, a fully loaded Cayman S PDK for over 10k less that has done only 900 miles and has 2.5 years of warranty was the better car.

I tried privately.. couldn't sell it.. sold it as part-ex to a Dealer for 65k in the end. Car still had 1yr warranty left on it, bodywork in perfect condition... Either the market firmed up nicely for the summer.. or the colour was wrong.. or I was just unlucky ... but I would think that by now for 65k you can find a pretty good 991S.
And not sure why you bother by a car that has driven 10k miles.. it's probably better as the car would have been run regularly and the niggles sorted in warranty.

I think prices are firm at the moment, if you look for sub 70k PDK 991s's with less than 20k on them and a half decent spec, there is ONE! (Red with tan interior).
