I've been thinking for a while that the stereo in my 987 has been a bit lacking lately, so had a little fiddle with the settings today.

Basically, I've got no bass at all running through the rear speaker, it still works but all I'm getting is mid range. There is more bass out of the front speakers, surely this can't be right as its meant to be a subwoofer on the rear shelf, right??

Any ideas? All the wiring is in place but I'm a tad confused... Car is under warranty but I don't want to book it in & find out it's something simple.

Cheers

I had something similar happen to my 997.2 a few years ago. I remember the dealership had to recode one of the control boxes (CAN bus controller, I think) to tell it the Bose option was present in the car. For some reason, the correct settings had been lost and the car's systems were working under the assumption that it had the standard, non-Bose, audio setup. Only took half an hour from start to finish and everything worked normally thereafter.

Thanks Ian, appreciate your response.

I'm still getting some sound out if the rear speaker, just no bass. Is this the same as the issue you had?

Just before I purchased the car, it had a new head unit, amp & booster? (According to some warranty receipts in the history file), perhaps its been like that since they fitted the new kit. I'd be surprised though as it was done by the OPC, although one which hasn't got a particularly good reputation...
