Had made an appointment to view a 2006 Cayman 3.4S when the owner, a Trader, informed me although the car has FPSH and just 57K, it has a bore scoring problem which needs to be addressed - hence the price of £13995.

I started some research so went here ..... http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-reviews/porsche... This reveals nothing at all goes wrong with the first generation Cayman.
I then, amongst others, tried this thank goodness, Thank-you Pistonheads ..... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...

So, apart from Parkers Guide completely missing the obvious well recognised and documented issues, am I right in thinking I have to get a facelift 2009 to overcome this and the IMS Bearing and RMS (rear main seal) Not sure I can stretch to a 2009 car is the main problem.

Save up until you can afford a gen 2.

If you can't afford it now then you can't afford to repair a knackered gen 1.

My gen1 was fine. Apart from the incessant rattles.

If on a budget go for a post 2006 2.7 as revised ims and the bores are the least likely to score!
Also the 2006 3.2 boxster engine is also quiet robust to bore scoring but said engine not in acayman
Otherwise save up for a gen2
