I can't turn off my windscreen wiper!
Discussion
'07 Cayman S. The rear wiper has been sketchy at best since I bought the car. It refuses to work in cold weather & now irrespective of what I do with the switch, it wipes back & forth constantly!
I've messed about in the PCM switching between manual & auto & checked the seal around the motor housing & it doesn't look compromised or letting water in. Short of disassembling the tailgate, any ideas?

After this morning's drive, the motor seems to be giving up the ghost, it's barely able to wipe if the rear screen is dry. We now think it's worn & the original fault would have been the parking contacts in the motor, but also realise this is speculation.
This leads me to another question, swapping the part is easy enough, but Porsche list two: 997-628-080-00 & 987-628-080-00. The model designation is obvious to see in the part numbers,, but Pelican for example list the 997 as the part for the Cayman & I can't see any difference in size & shape. Does anyone know whether it's the same part used over both models? There's a big difference in cost to me if not.
