If you are going to track your GT4 a lot then I would say go for steels!
Ok gotcha I was wondering if they had made them more track friendly now

you have a choice, auto blip works very well, you don't have to have it on.

no one and I mean NO one can threshold brake every bend every time to the max.

So it gives you that extra chance to nail the braking when on track

the 911 CUP cars all fitted auto blippers from 2012 onwards, no one is that good.

you still have 3 pedals and have to change gear, but you can choose auto blip or not , win win in my book, esp chasing down GT3's on track in 2015 ;-)
Not that simple. A good driver will trim the car with heal and toe. Slightly under reving to suit the corner/condition of his tyres etc.

If i had the option on a road OR a race car, i'll take a heal and toe downshift set up over an auto blip. Flat shift on upchanges but a manual downshift. The 997 Gen 1 cup was excellent in this respect but every time a driver jumped in the VIP car they invariably blew the clutch, damaged the gearbox or stacked the car by locking the rear wheels. It was a bit pathetic actually. In the end, Porsche stopped entering the VIP car in races. It was costing them a fortune to run!

Heal toe downshifting is one of the few skills that cannot be replicated by electronic intivention because it isnt just about a perfect match of revs to ration. Its a lot more than that

while nice on paper, most people will do 4 or 5 track days a year in their road car.

"Slightly under reving to suit the corner/condition of his tyres etc. "

that is not going to happen even for a skilled road driver imo.

I have pretty much nailed H&T now in my R but to think about "Slightly under reving " while threshold braking is above my skill set.

people say PDK helps them focus on driving the car faster which I know to be true for a novice, to a point it gets too easy.

I think auto blip will help me on track and I'll keep the skill on road as I don't want the thing blipping every change though the villages lol

Time will tell but I drove the GTS manual on track with auto blip on and it's a good system imo. really allows you to keep the ABS from cutting in and max out braking.

I have a serious concern on auto blip. I generally heal and toe alot, always in the Porsche and even in the Defender! sometimes double clutch heal and toe. however I've been doing it since my first car an MG Midget which lacked some sychro...

Modern gearboxes will accommodate a slight mismatch with he syncro. I would suggest people will find it harder to learn once they have been driving normally for a while. I struggle to get left foot braking smooth but thats because I never learnt to do it form the off..
