Just thought some people might be interested in seeing the radiator grills I fitted this morning. Watched a mates Turbo radiator piss fluid all over the floor recently and thought I should try and avoid the same fate, so I bit the bullet and ordered these from Zunsport as per the thread on Planet-9. They arrived two days later, beautifully packaged and were clearly very well made. There is a nice solid feeling to them and I'm very pleased to have got them.

Fitting was a bit confusing at first but took no longer than 20 minutes including all faffing. Now it's done, I can't believe Porsche don't make something like this as an OEM part. I've already had three people tell me it's really made the car pop and that they look "badass". I've included a before shot, and a couple of after shots. If anyone wants to order some they sent me a 15% discount code which I can share with a PM.

Enjoy!

It's incredible that Porsche would consider letting a car on the road with the rads so exposed, though I guess the dealers are quite happy fitting all the replacements...

Nice job. The 987 rads are vunerable enough, but the 981's are even more exposed.

As Chris Harris said about the semi-exposed rear end of McLaren P1, the exposed radiators are a cameltoe car's porn.

And I really like it.

But I reckon the risk of hitting a stone and destroy them.

Also ordered myself a full set and enjoy holding them occasionally in hands as my car coming only in 2months.
As some people mentioned on Planet-9 that you can get rocks and leaves into side scoops and it's pain to get them out I also ordered side grills, and a set of rears just for look.

I've been looking into them for mine but as I have the ACC option, it looks like the centre one wont fit.

Shame that the GT4 rad covers unlikely to fit. they look pretty good (and like a lesson learned too)..

Hi Newbieninja,

Nice job!

I've bought a set for my CGTS (hope to pick up the car and fit them this week).

Looking at the instructions, it's not clear to me how you use the 3 spring clips per side on the larger 'lower' grill each side. Does the 'outer' clip act as a back stop for the grill to stop it pushing through and the 'inner' clip secures the tab on the grill to the plastic surround? Does the third clip just go between the two or have I got it wrong?

Cheers - Tony

How easy are these to fit and are they theft proof once fitted? Fancy a pair for my S outers (no centre rad), but at £200 they need to stay on my car (my old mans knackered old Golf keeps getting the plastic infills stolen!).

Exactly as you thought. The "inner" clip (near the licence plate) just stops you pushing the grill all the way through the opening. It's not that important where you place this - so just stick it in somewhere sensible. The "outer" clip is the important one. What you want to do is hook the grill in near the licence plate, then get a clip in your hand, thread it through the top opening (above the DLRs) and locate the clip bang on where the tab will be so that the slots marry properly. This saves you from cursing and fumbling with a screwdriver trying to relocate the clip after messing it up!

I only used two of the clips per side. It's pretty solid this way. I reckon they provide some extras because numpties like me probably attempt to do it without the instructions, stick them in willy nilly and fail to remove them in order to relocate them to marry with the tab.

BTW Tony, just saw your CGTS photos in the other thread. AMAZING!!! Well done chap.

With regards to the chap who asked if they are secure - I tried to pull them off with a pair of pliers after fitting to be sure I was happy. They are pretty bloody solid. You have to faff for ages with a screwdriver to get them off. If someone is going to nick them, they'd have to know exactly what they are looking at. The great thing is they look like part of the car, so they are pretty indistinguishable as extras.

Thinking about it, if I didn't have the centre grille, as no central radiator, any leaves will still get funnelled into the side pods and then be more difficult to remove? Any worries on Porsche warranty with these fitted?
