liking that alacanta wheel. I find the leather one a bit sweaty even with aircon on. How much did they charge for that?

ps...I joined the R brigade at the weekend smile

the accantara wheel came as a factory option on the car. i did buy a leather sports design wheel from suncoast in US and had that one recovered in the grey alcantara with red stitching and red alcantara band at the top. i have not as yet fitted that wheel and not sure if i will. I think the wheel recover was about £140

if anyones hovering about Fizzbombs car over at Southern Sky, I took it for a test drive a couple of weekends ago and it was gorgeous. Feels as tight as a brand new car and looks it too, with a great spec. I so very nearly bought it but in the end just didn't want another white car after owning a white 911 for 6yrs. Was a tough decision though, and felt price was right too.

Bought a guards red one instead smile

Possibly not the right thread, but the Spyder one is all about the 981...

Does anyone know the maximum camber settings that can be dialled in on a 987 Spyder without making modifications?

I have one degree at the front and two at the back, but my tyres are still wearing more on the outside at both ends. Road use only and will continue to be so.

Cheers,

Paul

Catchpole prefers the good old CR over the new 981 Spyder for driving, thought that's interesting.

Someone else agrees. Nuff said?

Porsche Cayman R (2011)
Cost: £41,500
Balance: £10
Why I chose it: "Simply superb! Because as a driver's car there is nothing better for under £50,000 and is, surprisingly, better than any other Porsche or performance car for the money. I might even dare to say the Cayman R delivers a driving experience you would expect from a £250,000 car. But you have to have the manual for the best driving experience."

A Cayman R is over my budget, but I love the idea of it. A nice 987.2 S at £25-30k is in budget, and I've been reading on some of the US forums that the R suspension is easy enough to put on, lowers the car by 20mm and should give the handling characteristics of an R. I think this with an R exhaust and Carnewal mod would make an excellent car although obviously won't have the small weight savings, LSD and rarity.

Has anyone retrofitted R suspension in the UK and where did you get it done, and cost? I understand it would void an OPC warranty but that would only be an issue if it had one.

it's a no brainer as a drivers car over the 981.

great thing to do and you get what makes the R, cost is about £2k I think, ARB also need changing.

Well guys my Cayman ownership might be coming to an abrupt end! Just about to sign a lease on a bigger business premises so need to find some cash for stock! Will see what happens but will be a sad day. Its been if I'm honest an unexpectedly epic car. Didnt think I'd gel with it as much as I have. Next time I'll no doubt have to dig deep and go for the R chances of getting another S like mine are pretty much zero.

Onwards and upwards!

Bought it oop North,

essential spec as I wanted:-

colour coordinated interior
Alacantra Buckets
Spyder wheels
Sport design steering wheel
Sports Chrono
Auto air-con
Parrot blue-tooth and I-phone/pod connections

Surprised myself by going PDK in the end. Got bored of stock mode by end of first day and only drive in sports or sport plus mode all the time with manual shifts.smile Sure the full auto mode will come in handy in traffic or long schlepps but I like to be the one deciding when I want to shift gears. Goes like a rocket, #happy chappy

The car that was at Redline for a good while, then a few other places? Has no PSE or PCM if I remember correctly? Probably hung around as the Redline pics were poor and they had it up for £44,995..............
