I'm on the look our for a weekender on dry miles only

Possibly happy to consider a Boxster but I'd prefer a Cayman if honest - Hartech have given a little advice - (thanks) but what do I need to look for - Quite happy at a 2.7l (does this avoid bore scorching ?) and I've a modest £11-£13k budget.

Like everyone id love a bargain but most of all I want something that going to be free of headaches....

You want a 7-8 year old Porsche with a budget below the cheapest car for sale on PH that's never been driven in the rain in perfect condition? Do you want the previous 1 owner to have wrapped the seat in plastic when they took delivery so your ass is the first to hit the leather, skin to skin?

You realise that the £14k cars for sale have 80-100k miles on the clock? And it rains fairly often in the UK? Dry use only eh? LOL

Can I have some of what you have been smoking please, I am in need of a good laugh and want to leave the confines of reality also!

Sorry just been watching this Justin Beiner roast and it put me in the mood to be a dick.

Not sure what your have been driving previously but Porsches don't disintegrate in water. So don't worry too much about dry use, it's better to use lube anyway the first time you need a major service with new brakes and tyres...

My old Cayman S is for sale at the moment at a dealer I noticed, it's an early car (2006) done nearly 70k miles, had a hard life as a daily driver in all weather through winter, the front end has been re-sprayed poorly and incorrectly and there are various knocking noises probably meaning it needs new tie rods etc. It wasn't particularly well specced but did have sports seats which were nice but not much else. Plus side is it has just had a new clutch and still no signs of bore scoring.

The dealer is still asking 16k for it.

I doubt you'll find a minter for anywhere near your budget. £11k (bottom of your budget) is what the dealer gave me as a trade in for mine knowing that it needed a re-spray and a new clutch - just to give you an idea of how low you're aiming here.

There's a few just over your budget:

Both have 80k+ miles, you're not going to get a low mileage one unless you save a bit more. I would advise that you've got a contingency fund as I'm assuming servicing isn't as cheap as other cars out there.

Although there was an £11k Cayman in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago, so you might luck out?

I'd echo the sentiments that for his budget the OP should be looking at Boxsters. If a hard top is a must then an early 996 might be a better bet?

Do 987 not suffer Bore score? I thought it was potentially all gen 1 vehicles?
