Will be interesting to see if people can get them, unlike the GT4. I suspect the GT4 is more in demand because of the Motorsport heritage?

Looks far more aggressive than the old one - a very good thing imo.

Electric roof too?

Now got to work out how to afford one given that I can't bear to part with the original...

I'm not so sure. Has it got to user friendly and lost its weekend/toy feel about it?!

The web special shows the rear wing lifting, that's new to me:

I think the new Spyder is very interesting. As a car that I'd own it would fit into my life much better than a GT4 would.
10mm higher ride height, passive suspension, detuned GT4 engine (which can surely be remapped back to 400-410 PS), the option of open top motoring and it is most likely lighter than the GT4... I can see why Röhrl ordered a new Spyder.

I do think that the older Spyder looks "more special" but I'd argue that the newer one is "more special".

I don't think it looks much (any?) better than the GTS. Boring wheels - needed GT4 rims and side scoops imo.

Performance figures looking good though - Weight 1315 (no air-con) vs 1345 for GTS. Power-to-weight ratio 285hp/ton vs 245/ton (GTS). Cayman GT4 - 287/ton.

PDK would of seen it hitting 60 in less than 4secs... couldn't have it being quicker than the GT4 smile

Where did you get the weight figures from?

edit: oh nevermind, they are on Porsche's site now. 1315kg DIN 1390kg EG

Not seen that...

He's quoted as buying his own 987 Spyder back when that was launched.

Like it, another manual car not trying to chase Ring times. Looks better in the video than the pictures.
